Who was this lady?

O lady fair with long hair loose
Who stole a man from his rightful spouse

The answer is indeed Uinen
Val gave the answer and DPR found the correct source tale.

You see, Uinen had quite remarkable long hair:
Quote:
Uinen the Lady of the Seas, whose hair lies spread through all waters under sky. All creatures she loves that live in the salt streams, and all weeds that grow there; to her mariners cry, for she can lay calm upon the waves, restraining the wildness of Ossë. The Numenoreans lived long in her protection, and held her in reverence equal to the Valar.- Silm
The Venturers of Numenor were called "Uinendili, the lovers of Uinen"

Erendis considered Uinen her personal foe and rival:

Quote:
Valandil, Lord of Andunie and close kin of Aldarion, held a great feast; and at that feast he drank to Erendis, naming her Uineniel, Daughter of Uinen, the new Lady of the Sea. But Erendis said aloud: "Call me by no such name! I am no daughter of Uinen: rather is she my foe."

"I will not share my husband with the Lady Uinen," said Erendis [to Aldarion]

I've solved that quote before in the Quote Game! I think I had a really funny guess first...

Are there anymore unsolved riddles? I should try to riddle around a bit. No fair taking and not giving back!

Gift given to the fallen
Made of leaves dead and fresh
'Twas never molten
And ended up in a splash.

That was some poor riddling and rhyming.

Does this have anything to do with the Haudh-en-Nirnaeth?

I can tell you this: Midge doesn't rhyme. I stink at that... I'll see if I can make up something from memory, but it'll probably have to wait till later when I can look good and hard at my books.

Okay, Riddlers! Here I go... *grimaces*

Standing guard over evil
Yet corrupted in purpose,
The might of these jaws
Can be seen when they're clenched,
And the bite is much worse
If the mouth is wide open.

*I'm looking for proper nouns and more than one!*

Aren't those both Hobbit surnames? Perhaps they come together to form the lineage of a person? I can't recall, though...

That's what I was thinking.. but it seems like her maiden name was longer, like Brockhouse or something.

*stupid RULE!*

Sorry. Those would be Narchost and Carchost.

Yes, they are hobbit surnames. When combined, can you find a relationship? A context that would be notable here in the riddling thread? Hmm???

What rule do you mean? In here it's total anarchy, and we have no rules, (other than we prefer Tolkien riddles to riddles in general). Feel free to search any texts available.

P.S. I need no text to tell you that you are thinking of Bracegirdles...
