If now is the time for weapons, I'll bring forth my Pink Feather Duster of Doom which Galadriel gave me:

That's... cute. I guess. So where is Nauti, TB and the rest of the crew? Still around?

Love it, Varna!!!
hey Sane, do you have any horses now? How's the bow? It's pretty slow here - we're hoping the Hobbit Movie will liven things up.

I would if I could, but Nautipus has not answered my emails when I had sent them, so I don't think he is using his old address any more. I rather miss him. Same with TB, Siscuz, BB and the rest. I still talk to Lil Adanel via skype, though she is like to be very busy with her own life. My lord, how time and people change...
Rian, I do rather have a horse! Or, a foal, actually, and a finer Arabian colt I could not ask for! He is a Polish Arabian: His name is Evander V out of Jullyen El Jamaal by Evangeline NA out of Afire Bey V by Eula. He is a gift from a very dear friend of mine, and a rather notable Arabian breeder herself. I've also got a fine new bow, quiver and case and have taken up with Empire Medieval Pursuits; a troupe of historically and culturally accurate group of live steel combatants and archers. Site is here: http://www.empiremp.com/about.html

That sounds wonderful! Glad to hear it! That's great to start with a foal, although of course you can't ride. At what age do you like to start saddle-training? I wish the US (at least the racing Thoroughbred people) would not start so young - it's sad to see racehorses retire at 3 ... the UK does things much better in that area.

Well, that depends. Evander is a yearling now, and I've already trained him to accept a *saddle* onto his back, and he is used to paniers and other things being draped over him since he was a wee thing. The only exception is that there is no person or actual weight on his back. I hope to start riding him as he turns maybe 3; it really depends on his growth as right now he is as tall as his mother-14HH and seems to be starting to fill out rather than grow much taller. As he is now, he accepts bit and bridle, and a light english saddle. He is currently ground trained and very established in his manners (although he DOES so LOVE to push them at times!) and I am hoping to start training him to drive soon, since he's certainly got the head for it. I currently have him ponying along with me on day trips.
He is so incredibly intelligent, it's like I'm not even training him so much as just giving him pointers on how to do things better; it's crazy, I've never had a horse as crazy intelligent as him since Volir. Even so, the training of Volir was mostly carried out by my great uncles and grandfather, with me merely learning besides them.

yes, I meant actually riding - I'm glad you're waiting until he's 3, although I'm sure it will be hard to wait that long.
My horse was very intelligent - he was a great horse, and gorgeous. I have his picture up in our house, and I just found a little braid thing I made from his tail-hairs one rainy day ...

I've got other string horses I work with that belong to members of that troupe I linked above. I'm not starved for work or riding, it seems. It keeps me busy, keeps me sane.

Inflatable Hammer of Wrath?! Pink Feather Duster of Doom?!
(Varna, I'm sure Galadriel wouldn't appreciate her pink sparkly gift being used for the purpose of evil )

To some extend it is. If you don't mind your every move being watched by people who have weapons and are just waiting for the opportunity to use them on you...
