Actually, the 'he' was for the person who found him; it wasn't McGonagall.

Perhaps you were referring to how Harry found Justin Finch-Fletchley and Nearly Headless Nick. It wasn't night, though, so I can't answer the rest of the question.

Heh, I didn't read that - I read, a couple of lines later, where McGonagall says:
