Ingwe! You were in England? I hope you liked it. Welcome back

*loves the duck picture, too*

Western culture is so warped. *sigh* It's so odd being back here. Everything in the media just seems completely absurd, for a start...

Then don't watch. *shrugs* I don't watch either and it hasn't done me any harm.
Do you already wish to go back?

Oblivion is pretty fun. I played a mod that allows you to rebuild one of the destroyed cities, Kavatch. I have other mods, mostly horror-related quests.

Yep, England was lovely! It was perhaps amongst the best times of my life! And the duck picture was hilarious!

Aye, the media is completely absurd in and of itself. Western culture has potential, but that's all it has. Like George Carlin said, it's a great country (depending on what you're talking about) but it's a straaaange culture.

Michael Jackson inundates the news. Now the news corporations are acting as if Americans care about the whole custody dispute, that's less about the children of Michael Jackson and more about the money (of course, what else is new in the Land of the Free). Some of these people actually care more about Michael Jackson than they do their own friends. People in general need to stop watching any of the news on TV. If enough people ignore it, it will go away. It's getting to the point that nobody needs to hear the news anyway, even if it is relevant.

CNN may as well be renamed to the Michael Jackson Memorial News Network. CNN email subscriptions is something I still get, mainly because I was too lazy to unsubscribe (lol). They're only supposed to send history-worthy news. So I get this one email that says the following:

"CNN Breaking News:

At memorial service in L.A., Michael Jackson's daughter Paris says he was "the best father you could ever imagine.""

And that's the same for any pop-news service. And I'm looking at this email and that's the moment I actually took the time to unsubscribe. I was looking at that email, realizing that this nation is doomed if this is what they consider to be 'news'. I was looking at this 'breaking news', thinking to myself, out of ~350 million Americans, who's going to care about this s***? A guy getting in a barrel and falling off of Niagara Falls is more news-worthy in fact! Releasing a news report that says, "we have nothing interesting, compelling, or remotely news-worthy to report on" would be more news-worthy. Somebody putting face paint on would be more "breaking news" worthy. I'm sorry, but I could ramble on about this for days. What's sad is that the news reports on Michael Jackson because he was the weirdest person in the world for the last two generations! If he were a standard celebrity, he'd not get much focus.

Another funny thing (more like sad), I think is that America thinks it can police the world, even now, when we can't even have the strength to take into custody the leader of Iran who's having innocent protesters murdered on the streets, and then saying that it's "not a big deal" while he's plotting Israel's destruction at the same time. Then America goes out to tell Israel what it should go do with itself. I think it's clear that by now, America is not in a position to dictate foreign policy. Obama seems like he may prove himself, but he has a lot of damage to repair from America's last great "ultimate experience" with our prior President who shall remain nameless.

Anyway, going to England was a breath of fresh air. Next year is Australia, or Switzerland. We've not determined what the plans are as of yet.

It's not that I'm anti-American in any way. America's a good country...erm...potentially. It just needs a change in much of its management. Yet if honesty were introduced into American politics, the entire system would collapse! Many say that America was founded by "Christians" when in fact a major body of the people who signed the Declaration of Independence were atheists (not that this is a bad thing at all). If we're founded upon religious freedom, then I think that everyone should have a choice not just what religion to choose, but the right to not choose one at all. In a nation that preaches about Liberty, Freedom, and so on, the words "atheism" and "atheist" are looked down upon rather lowly. It has a negative connotation. Words I associate with negativity are criminal activity, murder, war, and so on...but I guess that's just me xD. Not that religion in and of itself is bad. Having faith is not a bad thing. But thinking that God needs us to defend her/him/it usually doesn't result well. God's all-powerful, all-knowing supposedly, so God wouldn't need us to defend God. I don't think God would like ritual sacrifice or war in God's name either. Those are amongst the things I think would make God sad.

Anyway, I ranted enough on America and Americans. It's a common rant from me.

But my time in England was both a great time at the same time it was an eye-opener. w00t!

I do. Thanks, though.

That's not what was worth , it's that the parties were on the same date. So we couldn't attend to both of them.

I find my family depressing most of the time. I prefer a little further relatives, cousins mostly.
I intend to found a happy family, where everyone is listened to and respected and cared of. At the moment it doesn't look very likely though that I'd even find a girlfriend.

*pokes Noble* Nonsense! >_< I wouldn't start worrying about that till you hit 72.
You're a great guy (despite what you seem me to want to think ) and you are going to start down a new path after the summer, so who knows what you'll find along the way?

Tomorrow is the day... o_O

For some reason when I chose blank on Internet options (at the suggestion from my uncle) all colours and some words (like google on the search engine) have disappeared - for example - entmoot is white not green - and there appears to be no way I can reset it to the previous setting. Do any of you know how to do this? Glad to know - best Gw

Was the forum down for a few hours for anyone else today, or just me?

Ingwe, I agree with some of what you said (and I did read it all ) I'd be very happy if I never heard another word about Michael Jackson, for a start. The news is still full of stories about him.

Mari's probably right though, the solution is just not to watch TV, or read news websites other than those dedicated to the particular issues I find interesting.

I'm at an internet cafe today, because I'm typing up business documents for my dad, and I don't have a printer at home!

Edit: Sorry, GW, I have no idea! Hope someone else can help

The only suggestion I have would be to save your bookmarks folder and then do a complete wipe/reinstall of your browser.

Me too. Only got here now. (Then again, I didn't try until now after the failed attempt earlier today.) How is everyone...?

Anyone else get the "Evony" ad? It's getting rather disturbing, and I've only seen it twice.

EDIT: Nightwish tune slightly changed...
