Hullo there, Val ol pal! You are quite correct on both counts. Thank you, for solving them so exactly.

Now. About my other riddle. You have been strangely silent...

Whose Tale is Here Told?

From the White to the Great
Long rule was his fate.
Passed by no other
since lost was his brother

Manwe? His brother Melkor was sort of "lost". However I have never heard Manwe called "white".

Who are these?

The stone folk they were called
And the finest rangers.
Hunted by friends
In Darkness they had brothers.

This is either too easy or too hard. Damn...

It's not Manwe.

Here's a hint: this is a Third Age riddle sourced from LOTR.

That would either be the Rohirrim, or a clan allied with Ghan-buri-gan's lot, I think.

Well, I was going after "lost brothers". Baldor was lost at the paths of the dead, Aldor his brother had a long reign. But it doesn't seem to fit "from the White to the Great"...

Then you must make it fit.

What could the White signify? Well, let's see. There's a White Council. A White Wizard. White Mountains. White jewels. White Towers. Lotsa whites to choose from. Which one fits Aldor?

Then you gotta consider those things that are called Great, and how would it fit with Aldor. You got your Great plague. Then there's your Great Smials. Don't forget the Great River, or the Great Goblin, or the...

Anyway, the answer is there, if you seek for it.

Well, I would pick White Mountains and Great river - boundaries of Rohan.

Ta da! Riddle solved! The answer is Aldor the Old. Third King of Rohan. His reign lasted longer than that of any other king of that folk.

Well done, Gordis!

Now, let's try something with a bit of rhythm to it...

A Riddling Room Limerick

There once was this distant relation.
whose desire was fraught with frustration.
She wanted the End,
was too tough to unbend,
and philanthropy was her salvation.

These are kinda fun to write, so here's another one...

Another Riddling Room Limerick

There once were these two ancient lovers.
Who never slept under the covers.
Their backs would not bend,
and their paths would not blend.
So, one left for new lands to recover.

Because one of the armies invading Rohan included people that resembled them. Or perhaps they resembled dwarves, but the Druedain also kinda looked like them. Right?

Ents and Entwives again? If my answer was correct, then yes to your earlier question, I would have the riddles harder.
