I've got the flu or a cold or whatever else makes your head stuffy and keeps your nose running *sneezes in a hankie*.
Honey tea anyone?

You know, these past few weeks/months I've been so busy I couldn't get myself to post more than a 'hello and bye' sort of comment and now that I have the time to sit down and actually write something, I have to come to the conclusion that I really don't have anything interesting to say... >_<

Tea, yes please!

Sore throat, runny nose and have been busy coughing my lungs out since the start of last week. Curtesy of the little germ, a.k.a. my baby nephew. He's adorable, but a little incubator all the same.

Then why not just write "friends"?

Why do people at all tend to emphasise the gender of their friends, when the friends in question are of the opposite one?

Well, why NOT do it? I've made definitions before between my female friends and guy friends. Although to avoid confusion I usually say "some of my female friends," or "some of the guys."

I don't really see any reason against doing it.

On a tangent, it seems to me terribly confusing that "femme" means both "woman" and "wife" in French (besides smacking of sexism). I mean, how are people supposed to know if I'm talking about my girls, or my wives?

Oh you guys people.

<.<

Because I'm writing an average-Joe character who ends up killing someone (I'm writing in a Dragon Age RPG ) I spent some time today reading an article on how the human brain reacts to killing another person. Really very interesting.... horrifying, but interesting. Hopefully it will help me be a better writer. I always get annoyed when I read people writing their "cool" characters who run around murdering people and being "teh awesome" assassins and yet somehow their character is never haunted by what they've done... or mentally traumatized in any way.

I was thinking about how much that bothers me today, and I realized that I actually had no idea how a real human reacts to killing someone. So I figured... why not find out? Hope it makes my character more believable.

That sounds terribly interesting, Tessar. The story I wrote for NaNo last year did involve one murder, but I put more thought into how the character who witnessed it would react. It's really fun to try to write characters that react to things realistically rather than just what you would expect in a movie or something.

There are limits to the amount of research that is appropriate, boy! Put that gun down NOW.

I could never write a story about someone who is a murderer. Maybe kills in defense, but I'd rather write about someone ELSE killing a person.

*holds up another empty cup*

Status quo, throat's still mightily sore. Everyone at work kept telling me I looked aweful and I should go home. But eh, daughter-of-self-employed-work-ethics kicked in and well, works needs to be done. I looked worse than I felt. And I have a day off tomorrow, I'll live.
