is the first one in reference to the fellowship's fight with the wargs before they reached the gates of moria?

here's my contribution:

master of the trick was he
renowned among his family
yet in the eyes of samwise gamgee
he was not the best there was to see

Yes, the fight with the wargs is the answer.

I'm going to have to look up the name of the hobbit you are thinking of brownjenkins. I think he was Sam's uncle or great-uncle. He walked a tightrope up in Tighfield or some such place. Hmm, check that. Now I think it was the one who tied the knots. Dang, I'm going to have to pull out the book!

When I lay me down to sleep
I fear no evil, my slumber deep.
Ne’er do nightmare’s visions clog
a mind that’s sleeping like a log!

Not much of a riddle but I have been under the effects of riddlers block recently.

You must travel many paces
to find the heart of 1000 faces.

And another:

At my first house-warming party
my son was drinking much too heartily.
Prior to the party’s end
he vowed to walk where no one went.
And now my death has come to pass
because my boy was such a dumb-a**.

Your last is Brego...right?

Man, you're just spinning these off... writing them faster than the 'moot can solve them!

From whence I came no one knows
I live in watching, ever guarding.
The path to the east is ever closed
and in the door no one goes...

Sorry I havent been in here for a while. Thought I'd come back with a riddle.

Keith, I cant believe it was Minas Tirith

Then how about that old man that Brego and Baldor ran into at the door of the dead?

Beor is right with Sam in "Now I lay me..."
Valandil is right with Brego in the dumb-a** son one.
On the brownjenkins one I'm going to look it up....
On the "whence I came..." one I'm at a loss. How about Ungoliant? Nobody knows where she came from. Not likely to be right, but I can't stand not making a guess.
OK brownjenkins, is it Sam's uncle Andy?

That was a great riddle Beor! Post some more if you have time to create them.
We still have two unsolved riddles in the thread. brownjenkins' trick riddle and my 1000 faces riddle.

Your 1000 faces-riddle reminds me of the Dead Marches, but I sort of doubt that's the answer.

I see how that can tie in Earniel and it is a good guess, but your doubts are justified and it is not even close to the answer I seek!
