You write a 15-page book report on LotR and feel that you left out important (to you) parts.

You have LotR in a boxed set, but usually it's just an empty box on your shelf because you keep re-reading it, or looking things up, or trying to find trivia questions, or....

You're surprised if someone hasn't read the books, and nearly die of shock if they haven't read them, no matter where they're from.

You carve your favorite character's name into your (school's styrofoam) lunch tray. Then you frame it, and carve little hearts around it.
In soccer practice when you have to run laps for your warm up, you pretend that you are Aragorn, Legolas or Gimli to keep from slowing to a walk. In swim practice you pretend to be Boromir, Faramir or one of the two other people who swims across the river when Osgiliath was overrun by Orcs. (Boro mentions this in the Council) After swim practice, when you are freezing cold and dripping wet, you put on your ring necklace before you dry off and put on dry clothes. When you tell your (LotR-obsessed) sister about something that reminded you of LotR or something you did that was LotR-related, she looks exasperated, and ignores you, pretends she doesn't know you, or does something similar.

You have dreams about LotR. (I just had a bizarre nightmare where I had the Ring.)

You name your biology creature a dobbit (because you subconciously connect it with hobbit!!) You pretend the microscope in biology class is the Mirror of Galadriel. |

If some of my friends ask me something about the books or the films, like why they did or said something that they didn't understand, I can go on about it for hours.. Now they don't ask me so much anymore. Wonder why?

You paint the elvish hymns (in the tengwar) around your doorframes in silver
You are reminded of Tolkien characters when you see certain people You constantly accidently write a letter in the tengwar when writing in english You start sounding 't, d, th, th, ng, y' when you try to recite the alphabet in your head (this is the order I learned the tengwar) You carve elvish gravestones with the words resembling Turin's and place them over where you buried your dead fish, customized (for legolas, one for gollum)

But before you scream "You shall not pass" you have to ignite them and cry: "the burning hair will not avail you, flame of Ûdun!"

You know you're obsessed with LotR when...
...you try to get your roommate to re-name her fish Isildur. ... you buy a KFC chicken bucket just because it has LotR pictures on it, wash it out, and keep it forever and ever. (I did not do the second one.)
