Books I have to get back to:

Ivanhoe (deemed boring by the commitee of MMI: Me, Myself & I)

Gulag Archipelago (serious reading to be done in the woods when nobody else lives on the face of the planet)

Hard Times (taken with pinch of salt because of the supposedly pro-socialist implications...?)

Heh. The title of Dickens certainly shows my summer very well. I had so many plans, so many expectations; read tons of books, study Latin and Russian, learn to sing. So many plans, and yet so little fulfillment.

It really was as if I lived in Two Cities; one of reality, one of plans.

No, you see, when I write "raucous laughter", I indicate a sort of mock laughter that I do sometimes, for which I cannot think of a really good expression.

Anyway, I'm guessing that you actually meant Great Expectations, not TTC? I was pulling a little Mr. Ryder there, but it doesn't seem to have worked...

I did think raucous laughter seemed a bit mocking, but I didn't suspect.

TTC, Great Expectations? No, I thought it was clear I was referring to Oliver Twist.

No, I seemed to remember someone recently mentioning Great Expectations, and thought that was the "Dickens title" to which you referred. So, I went on talking about the (unfulfilled) Great Expectations of my summer, and then pulled a Mr. Ryder, by ending up being talking about something entirely different, id est, Tale of Two Cities.
Only, it was sort of a reverse Mr. Ryder, as I started out talking about the RIGHT thing, and finished by making it clear I was speaking of the WRONG thing, whereas he did it in the inverse.

Does that explain all, luv?
