First Football Game

A guy took his girlfriend to her first football game. Afterward he asked her how she like the game.

'I liked it, but I couldn't understand why they were killing each other for 25 cents,' she said.

'What do you mean?' he asked.

'Well, everyone kept yelling, 'Get the quarter back!'

I doubt it would be DOS. Although I didn't pay attention the first time around, it came out in 2000 ish. All the fans had to wait 10 years for the second instalment.

Apparently there's a TV commercial. That's how cool it is.

They all spent 12 hours straight playing the game yesterday. 1 p.m. -1 a.m. They're dedicated.

Don't 'they' (whoever they are) have a job?

I was just reading a book, but it was printed wrongly: I have about 20 pages double and 20 pages missing! So I emailed the publisher and I hope to receive a new book.

Hmmm... it might have been a DOS game. Or maybe you had to boot it up through DOS? I remember some Star Wars Rebel Alliance games that we had to boot up through DOS because, for whatever reason, it wouldn't boot up from the desktop thing.

No, Starcraft was never a DOS game

Your loss. I <3 Starcraft. I can't wait to play II.

I'm curious though... you couldn't find some other way to amuse yourself?

Well, I know I played it and I remember the age. At that point we owned only a DOS-computer, but my friend owned a windows 95 computer, so I wasn't sure on which one we used to play it.

Yeah, sorry Midge, I'm with BoP here. I got annoyed with my bf played WoW all day... for the first couple months we dated. Now I entertain myself most of the day. But then maybe I'm just an introverted loner.

Sara Bareilles is coming to a city near me this Fall to do a tour, and I'm going to do my darndest to get tickets. I usually hate the idea of concerts, and I've never been to a major one, but what the heck? She's awesome, and I'd be kicking myself if I didn't at least make an effort.

Go for it! Not kicking, no. Tickets. Has there been a change to my typing lately? If there has, it's because Miss Emilie Autumn has such strong influence on me. She's genius. Is.

Well, I have played it a little bit and it's fun. I was always the one who sat and watched while my brother did all the hard parts of videogames - the parts where it's really easy to die. I started a campaign, though.

And I borrowed my husband's Droid and played a game called Alchemy for about 7 hours or so. I can entertain myself certainly. When I compared it to those things, I was talking about when you have nothing better to do than pull out a book and just read it.

Do you know those moments when you are bored out of your mind but don't want to do anything? *sigh*
Fortunately there are Dr. Who and Händel and Mahler.

(reposted after some editing has also been reinserted into its original posts.)

”Tonight on W-M.O.O.T. - an alternate version of the Black Knight scene in Monty Python’s Holy Grail…”

Gwai and Nelly is traipsing through a forest, Nelly providing the appropriate sound effects by slamming halves of a coconut together.

Meanwhile, in a clearing, two knights, Sir Hector and Sir Troll's Bane, are going at it hammer and tongs in a fight to the death.

The scene switches to Gwai and Nelly and then back to the duelling knights and then back and forth a couple of times.

Finally Gwai and Nelly stands on a path that ends in the clearing where the intrepid two are caught in life and death struggle. A fight contains heavy sword-blows, strong arm tactics and downright foul play galore.

Gwai and Nelly watches, quite interested.

After several rising and fallings, Troll's Bane, having been thrown a bit from Hector, gets up and attacks Hector, insanely screaming. Hector throws him swords piercing Troll's Bane in the head. Blood squirts from the severe headwound and Troll's Banel tumbles and falls to the ground. Hector calmly walks over and grabs hold the handle of his sword, puts his foot against the awkwardly angled head of the dead Troll's Bane, and withdraws the weapon.

Gwai nods at Nelly and they approach the victorious Black Knight.

As they traips into the clearing, Hector just stands there, hand's resting on the handle of his sword.

Gwai: “You fight with the strength of many men, sir knight.”

Hector just stands there saying nothing.

Gwai: “Im Gwaimir, King of the Mooters.”

Hector stills acts like a deaf mute.

Gwai: “I seek the bravest and finest knights on the Moot, to join at my court in the Café.”

Hector remains silent. Now, slightly perturbed, Gwai turns and looks at Nelly. Then looks at Hector again.

Gwai: “You have proved yourself worthy. Will you join me?”

Hector still plays his little game.

Gwai: “You make me sad. So be it! Come, Nelly!”

Hector: “None shall pass!”

Gwai: “What?”

Hector: “None shall pass!”

Gwai: “I have no quarrel with you, good sir knight. But I must cross this bridge.”

Hector: “Then you shall die!”

Gwai, quite annoyed now: “I command you as King of the Mooters, to stand aside!”

Hector: “I move for no man.”

Gwai: “So be it!

They draw their swords and the fight is joined. Hector is at a disadvantage since he has no skill whatsover at swordplay. When his guard is down at one moment, Gwai slams his sword handle on his helmet. A loud clang is heard.

Nelly looks on, quite thrilled.

Blows are again exchanged. Again, Hector guard is down and a heavy chop from Gwai cuts off Hector’s left arm. The blood squirts from the severed arteries. Nelly, ducks behind a tree, but cant keep from watching so he peeks forth again.

Gwai: “Now stand aside, worthy adversary.”

Hector: “’Tis but a scratch!”

Gwai: “A scratch! Your arm’s off!”

Hector: “No it isn’t!”

Gwai: “What’s that then?” pointing at the severed limb.

Hector: “I’ve had worse.”

Gwai: “You lie!”

Hector: “Come on, you pansy!

Blows are again exchanged. Hector is at a slight disadvantage from the absense of a certain extremity, his attempts at blows somewhat hampered. Gwai easily deflects them.
Nelly looks on, still very much thrilled by the fight.

Hector rushes at Gwai, only to have his other arm cut off as he rushes passed Gwai, screaming insanely. Blood starts squirting again.

Gwai: “Victory is mine!”

Gwai kneels to pray but Hector is still itching for a continuance of the fracas. He kicks at Gwai, who falls over.

Hector, taunting: “Come on then!” He kicks at Gwai.

Gwai: “What?”

Hector: “Have at you!” He kicks again.

Gwai: “You are indeed, sir knight, but the fight is mine!”

Hector jumps and skips about. “Oh, had enough, eh?
He continues his jumping and skipping about.

Gwai: “Look, you stupid bastard, you got no arms left!”

Hector: “Yes, I have!”

Gwai: “Look!”

Hector, not to be taken aback by trivialities: “Just a fleshwound!” He kicks at Gwai, tauntingly.

Gwai: “Look, stop that!”

Hector, kicks again: “Chicken! Chicken!” jumps and skips about, taunting Gwai. And kicks again.

Gwai: “Look, I’ll have your leg!”

Hector kicks one final time, at Gwai’s swordarm.

Gwai: “Right!” and swings his sword, neatly cutting of Hector’s right leg.

Nelly, watches the action, enjoying himself.

Hector, hoping on his one remaining leg: “Right, I’ll do you for that!”

Gwai: “You’ll what?”

Hector: “Come here!”

He hops over to Gwai.

Gwai: “What are gonna do? Bleed on me?”

Hector, hops about and tries to get near Gwai, who easily evades his attempts at close quarters.

Hector screams: “I’m invincible!”

Gwai: “You’re a looney.”

Hector, indomitable: “The Black Knight always triumphs! Have at you!” he bumps into Gwai trying desperately to fight on. “Come on then!”

Gwai, quite annoyed with Hector persistant wish to ignore his somewhat lessened ability at movement and any kind of swordplay, chops off Hector’s other leg. Nelly is thrilled.

Hector looks about, finally realizing his rather deminisced being, extremity-wise.

Gwai: “All right, we’ll call it a draw. Come, Nelly!”

Gwai and Nelly traipses off, Nelly providing the sound effects as before.

Hector: “Oh, I see! Running away! You yellow bastards! Come back here and take what’s coming to you! I’ll bite your legs off!"

This evening my parents were watching something on TV, and I was standing on the stairs watching (I meant to go straight upstairs but a commercial caught my eye).

There was this commercial for some cable company, and at the end of it this Russian guy has a tiny giraffe that he kisses, and then he giggles and snorts. Well my dad thought that I was gone, so he turns to my mom and says, "Aww how cute, it's just like Tessar and Rosie."

So I started laughing, and scared both of my parents because they thought that I was gone. Rosie is my dog, btw, and he didn't actually call me Tessar .

Ah, the joys of accidentally scaring someone. There've been so many times when I unintentionally terrified my brother, with hilarious consequences.

No idea what the common thread binding Russians, giraffes, and cable is, though.
