Oooookay. Experimenting.

I'm not sure that I like the song, and I'm not sure if my voice (or, I should say, "the way that I'm singing,") is appropriate for this style of music. I'm trying to write something that's sort of a broadway/folk/pop style song.

My main problem with it right now is that I feel like the only chord structures I can properly handle are so generic that it kills the song.

Thoughts?

But heeeey. On the plus side my high notes are gettin' stronger, eh? That's good. They're still not as "colorful" as my middle and low, but definitely gettin' stronger.

Aww, I'd love to hear you doin' some Messiah, Voronwen.

I'm trying to play around with getting my soft palate to stay high. I'm not convinced "But Who May Abide," is quite the right medium to be trying new techniques though. It's hard enough, and then you start trying to think about other things? Not so much.

One thing I found, actually through my violin lesson, is that when I'm not paying attention my shoulders rise... not to the extent that someone watching me would normally notice, but it makes a difference in the tone of the violin, so that made me pay attention while I was singing and.... sure enough.... my shoulders began to levitate the minute I hit a section of the song I wasn't "sure" about. It definitely makes a difference in my voice, too.

Oh, yeah! Nice, rich voice, middle range best, and I like the song a lot. Whose is it?

Thank you guys, I really appreciate the feedback.

Gwai--it's my song. I'm still working on it. That's the current version of the chorus/ending. Not thrilled with the little high part at the end, so I may move it to somewhere else.

I had to record myself playing the accompaniment and then sing along with that because, as I believe I mentioned to you on Facebook, I really can't play and sing very well at the same time since I haven't yet developed the proper technique to sing the same while sitting down as I can while standing up.

Awwwwwww SNAPPLE, YOU GUYS. Totally just got my palate workin' better, and it made my high notes a little warmer. I figured out how to get it to lift -before- I head on up to a high note, without having to keep it totally arched the whole time for my low notes.

I enjoy making tiny breakthroughs. >.> One baby step closer to being a truly formidable singer!!!!!

It's seasonal and inspirational!

Also, for the high notes check out THE LION SLEEPS TONIGHT in the related side options!

Keep up the good vork!

Y'know, that part struck as a little bit . . . Whitney Houston. Odd? Yes. But that's what it made me think of.

Inked, here's another seasonal song for ya.

Haha, inked I got my dad that CD for Christmas. The funny parody songs on it are good, but everything else is sort of.... eh? They're all good singers, but I'm not much into barbershop/pop crossovers.

Gwai--LOL!!!!

Also I think I know what you mean. She did have something of a tendency to be singing and then bust out a loud/high note sort of randomly. But she can get away with it because she's Whitney. I am not.

<.<

>.>

Honestly. I am NOT Whitney Houston.

No, see that's a "hmmm... sumpin's up," style of emote. Or skeptical, as Elleth said.

You should talk to Santa. Maybe he could get us a "hmmm...sumpin's up" emote that doesn't need any explaining.
