Ended up seeing The Dark Knight twice in 48 hours. My brain is going to be set to Batman for the next few weeks. Love.

I have just come back from seeing the Dark Knight and I was completely blown away especially by Heath Ledger. The joker stole the show and he definatlely should be nominated for a posthumus oscar.

Oh yes, Orithil. He definitely stole the show. I'm glad you also liked it!

Btw, another guy who took a good piece of the show was Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon.

So, when does Batman actually get to take a piece?

I'm going to see it tommorow maybe; whenever I get the time and it's not sold out.

Actually we have two French movies (that are actually rated PG, if you can believe it). One is Jean de Florette, and it's sequel: Manon of the Spring. I've been meaning to get to them...perhaps tonight.
Fantastic, the pair of them.

Saw "Walk Hard" last night- spoof on music bio-pics like "Ray" and "Walk the Line", but done in a (mostly) affectionate manner- though the parodies of 60s Dylan lyrics were hilarious. Good, but not great - 3.5 out of 5

The Dark Knight was out of this world! The story was great, the lines well delivered and the acting wonderful. Heath Ledger's The Joker had some of the best lines IMO. And I really believed it when
Gordon was "shot and killed" protecting the mayor. Surprised the hell out of me when he showed up and saved Batman when he knocked himself out

The emotional acting from Christian Bale and Aaron Eckhart was great. And I couldn't help but say "wow" at Ledger's acting. Very dark and a bit on the creepy side.

I hope they end up nominating Ledger and I think a win would be great, but Hollywood is really reluctant to give Oscars to the dead.

Are you kidding? The very fact that he died is the reason he'll get the Oscar.
Here's my opinion: Ledger definitely deserves the nomination. I don't know who else will be nominated, so I can't say absolutely that he deserves the actual statue.
I thought it was an amazing performance, but considering the genre (sci-fi/comicbook), it wouldn't have been likely to even get a nod from the Powers that Be in Hollywood if Ledger hadn't died tragically before we got to see it.
I think that the man would have eventually won at least one Oscar. He'd always had that potential. I think that for that reason--that he's dead and will not get a chance in the future to act in a typically-selected-by-the-Academy movie (drama, historical, controversial)--he will almost certainly get the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor this season.

You've got a really strong point. I , too think he deserves the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. Several people have recieved the nod after their deaths and only one has won. The name and year escapes me at the moment. But because he died before he and we got to see the final product is an even better reason for him to get the award.

Johnny Cash swept the award board at the Country Music Assosation's awards after his death, so I really think Ledger had a great chance at winning the award he deserves. He was a talented young man with a long career in store for him. Of the movies I've seen with him in (The Patriot, A Knight's Tale, Brothers Grimm) he had a talent of getting into character and making him his own.

Stupid Joker goes off and kills pretty much the only important female character in the whole film...

The only female Bruce really cared about. To make it worst, Joker told him she would be at this address and as Batman races to save her, turns out she's at the other address and he ends up saving Harvey.

I know this is way early to be asking this but... any ideas on who will be the villains in the next one? Had to say it!

I'm hoping they keep the next big villains in the storage box for #4. In the third film they should introduce The Ventriloquist, who has been the scariest villain as far as I'm concerned (though Ledger's performance makes The Joker that much more creepy).

No Riddler for now, please...or Catwoman. I'd like them to open up some of the lesser-known (to movie audiences) villains. Heck, I'd be willing to see a Rhas Al Ghul return.

And Acally, while Rachel (invented for the movies) is the only woman Bruce Wayne ever cared for, the only woman Batman ever cared for is Talia Al'Ghul .
