That duet is sublime. No other word for it . Some days I would drive to school and just listen to that one track on repeat over and over all the way there, then later in the day on the way home. It's just that good.

I just ran across something unusual on youtube: this boy needs training, but has serious potential!

Best. Mad Scene. Ever. Go Handel! And Go Hallenberg, too; hell of an interpretation!
Orlando's rather upset, but you have to read along; everything makes much more sense when you know what the words are saying. Or rather, it doesn't make sense, but in a marvellous way. Basically, Orlando has found his former beloved with another man, and goes stark raving, imagining that she has slain him, and he is now his own ghost descending into the Underworld. Superb music of madness!

Gwai, I can't seem to get to what you're talking about. The words 'orlando's rather upset' turn green, but it doesn't want to click, and there's no hyperlink address coming up at the bottom of the screen like usually happens when I hover over links.

Ah, yes. Internet malfunction. Should be fixed now. The text is number 5 on the link I posted.

Cherubini's piano music! Who would have guessed it was almost just as good as your typical Beethoven and Mozart piano music? It is. It's no "Moonlight" sonata, but it actually does hold your attention!

I am so excited! I just ordered a bunch of Berlioz music. Small stuff: the songs, choral bits and pieces...a treasure trove of which I've only been able to sample in 30 second clips.
I'll tell you what I find

Classical Music, anyone?
Is anyone listening to anything interesting?
I just listened to Poulenc's "Concert Champetre," originally for Harpsichord and Orch, but played on Piano for this recording. The Hpchd version is better.

I listened to Dvorak today. I really like his Piano Quartet. I didn't remember I liked it this much though.
And I was watching a show on opera. Interesting, but I did not like the voices of the rising stars. Much too thin. Might also have been the fault of the studio though. But the girl really needed to get some strength in her voice, because as it is she can only play a frightened (and thus barely audible) maiden. Interesting show nevertheless

I shall have to give you the rest of that Piano Quartet. It's all wonderful. We really haven't explored a lot of chamber music, and it's time we did.

*cough* Well now that it's chamber music, we each have to have an instrument. I'll take viola. And you?

Hmmm, something with strings... how do you call it... harpsichord?

Hmm, I would caution against that here . Hpchd usually plays the part of bass line. Your job is to keep me on track. Unless you want to switch the hpchd to a star role. It would drown out the viola though, I'm afraid

Remember that sonata for flute and harpsichord by Bach though?
