Well, the movie Holes is actually about this kid who gets in big trouble for getting caught with some stolen shoes. As his punishment he has to go to Camp Green Lake for 18 months. There is no lake at Camp Green Lake. At least not one with water. Every day he has to dig a hole 5 feet wide by 5 feet deep. That's the beginning. It's a very good book and a good movie too. I reccomend it. It is a kids book though. I still like it a lot.

If it's a kid movie my boyfriend will get so annoyed if I rent it, but I'm going to anyway because I love kid movies - as long as they don't involve kids like Mary Kate & ashley, or that "Spykid" kid.

"Emma" (with Kate Beckinsale and Mark Strong)

and we are watching "Citizen Cane" in classic film class.

Citezen Kane. Talk about a great film. Very interesting to watch with commentary by Roger Ebert (he's much better than that snob Leonard Maltin), he points out some weird stuff that passes you by the first few times.
Especially weird is the big room than Kane is in, but you don't know it when he's standing by the window. Then he walks toward the camera, and it takes a long time, and you see that the room vary large indeed. Also look for Orsen accidentally cutting himself in the Tantrum scene.

[i]Monty Python and the Holy Grail[/quote]-- well, a bit of it, anyway. Man, what a stupid movie... Of course I kind of expected it to be that. The beginning was rather funny, with the opening credits and the sparrow/cococut conversation and the peasant with the "farsical aquatic ceremony" speech. But then it got boring... *yawn* Haven't finished it. Don't know as I will.

The Aviator. Not a bad film. DiCaprio did a better job than I thought he would. Alan Alda was brilliant. () Cate Blanchett deserved every inch of that Academy Award she got. Beautiful job as Kathrine Hepburn.

HitchHikers Guide to the Galaxy - just watched it, oh so good! Now for sure I must read that book, and Douglas Adams' other books, as well.

So long, and thanks 4 all the fish...

Hitchhikers was really good! The book is about five times funnier- but not to the embarassment of the movie, IMO. I've heard that the subsequent books were not so great, though.
p.s. Read the book with Stephen Fry's accent- makes it even funnier.

I bought The Hitchhiker's Guide on DVD today. I think I agree that the book is funnier because it's so much easier to listen to what's going on inside a character's head. It's a lot easier to understand motivations and thoughts and things of that nature. But the movie is still good.

I also have all the Hitchhiker's books in one volume and read them during the summer. I really enjoyed all of them, even if they do sometimes get a bit tough to understand. (Plus you get to find out why the petunia thinks "Oh no, not again" in one of my favorite parts of the entire series )

I belatedly remembered that these three books caused an increase in the psychological imbalance found in my mind. So I have gone out and bought a new towel.

March of the Penguins - a fascinating film! Nevermind that the rest of the audience was over 60. But I really enjoyed it! When we walked out, I wanted to poke my kids in their side and say, "Ha Ha, made you see and educational movie!". But they liked it, too.

The Crucible was really good. I just saw it in Lit class. Anyone interested in a thread about it in the Lit thread?
