After voice problems on Wednesday that devolved into a full blown allergy attack where I almost couldn't sing at all on Saturday, and my throat was sore and painful, this morning I woke up MUCH better and it has improved all day today. Soooo grateful for that.

Now it's all clogging up my nose, which kind of bites, BUT at least it's not draining down my throat and affecting my voice any more. I can sing around it if it's just nasal congestion.

Well, after reviewing our recent pay stubs (which actually do not reflect our normal pay rates at all due to things like a new semester and illness, etc), we're not sure we'll get the loan after all. And if you're talking about age when you say "at 24", I'm 20.

I'm hoping we'll get to buy a house, but I can't place too much stock in it. We don't even have salaried jobs yet... it could very well fall through.

Unless you're absolutely positively sure about where you're going to live for a long time you might consider waiting. Houses aren't exactly the best investments right now; in this economy you might want to consider keeping your options open.

Oh, sorry. Still, I'm almost 24 and it sounds creepy to me
But then, houses here are much more expensive comparatively.

Tonight I was given another tiny walkon part in the opera... another guy and I are going to walk out with an enormous world map so that the narrator can point out world locations while the tenor sings his aria about wishing he could travel the world.

So before we walked out during rehearsal I turned to the other guy and I said, "Lets do it like Vanna White presenting a prize!"

So we did, and it was hilarious. Our friends out in the theater were watching and cracking up because we just stood there smiling, blinking a lot, nodding a little too interestedly, and we kept smiling at each other then turning to smile out at the 'audience'. Whenever a location near us was pointed out, we would use one arm to point it out, like Vanna does on Wheel of Fortune with the prizes. It was good fun.

The kind of house we're considering (since we're college kids and all) is the kind that you can rent out to college kids, so as long as America is putting an emphasis on higher education, we'll probably be okay, even if we do move away.

I did that once with my Theater class for our major presentation. We were at a rehearsal and I and one other guy were doing a scene together and he goes, "I'm tired of being my character." and I said, "I'll be him!" because I had a sucky part. So we traded spots and I marched out like he always did and all the other students laughed and our teacher freaked out because I guess she thought that we majorly had forgotten our parts. She finished the scene with us. I know the feeling, though. It's a great one, isn't it, Tessar?

In keeping with the economic times, college entrance rates are dropping a good deal. I'm not sure if that's something you should count too much on.

Well, my friends who are none of them in classes but are basically "like" college kids are renting out those houses too. But what do I know! This concludes this session of Katya's uninformed opinions about real estate time....

I just finished playing Dragon Age: Origins last night. I stayed up late to do it.

Not only is it the best RPG I've ever played, I think it's my favorite video game ever. Period. End of story. I got so involved with the characters, and I thought the storyline was very interesting and, since it changes constantly depending on the things you do in the game, it was very suspenseful and kept me constantly engaged.

It was such a bitter-sweet ending because after the final battle you get to talk to the characters in the game, and they talk about their plans, then there's a final 'credits' bit where it talks about what happens to some of them. Some of them don't end too well, and that's sad. I almost cried. It was like watching the Grey Havens scene from Return of the King. GREAT game.

Today I finally signed my employment contract! For two months this summer, I'll work as an assistant physician at a hospital, basically getting paid for stuff I up until now have done for free as part of my education. And the pay is almost ridiculously good

Getting paid for what you did for free is always nice. Congratulations. And if someone with a bacterial skin infection comes along, I'm sure you'll be able to treat them instantly!
