erm, can i post a question? (this wasn't blatantly stated in the book, but i think its fair)
Q: what was strange about the black gate of Mordor, and what was its TRUE purpose. the mountains surrounding Mordor had the same purpose which is, in fact, the opposite of one's first reaction. feel free to email me wid ur answers too.

It was built to keep enemies in, not out.

What prediction does Saruman make of Frodo's future, before he turns to leave the Shire?

That is half of it, you're on the right track. Think of where Saruman said that, and you will have the other half.

Yes. Well, you got it before anyway, I was just being nitpicky.

Saruman said "Do not expect me to wish you health and long life. You will have neither."

But I suppose a lack of long life implies a lack of health, so whatev.

Your go cassiopeia!

What day, in Shire reckoning, did Sam awake in Ithilien after the Ring was destroyed?

Sorry, I am on vacation and have not been able to go on the computer for a while.

What was Legolas's reaction when he saw Imrahil?
