I had seen the musical, but this was really very much like the musical. Only better visible... (wearing glasses remember? I really need them and even with them I only see half as much as I want to see sometimes. Though at other times not seeing very well suits me just fine )

Batman Forever was quite fun IMO. BB is far more serious. And has a thought out plot, unlike BF

Saw: 'The Englishman who went up a hill, but came down a mountain' with Hugh Grant and after that 'My house in Umbria' with Maggie Smith.
I loved the first one as always, but the second one was a bit odd. Not worth a rewatch, but not bad either. Mrs. Delahunty is an interesting person.

Whoa! What a name! I think I've heard of it, but I don't think I've watched it.

Acally, it's great. If you can get your hands on it, watch it
Colm Meany is great in it. (Yes, that is Miles O'Brien from Star Trek )

I just saw the first half or so of La Vi En Rose, about Edith Piaf's life.

What a horrible movie. At least what I saw, about the first 45 minutes is nothing but dirty women getting drunk and screaming loudly when bad things happen. I got extremely bored and tired of it, so I finally just got up and left.

I could've handled it except that they were constantly drunk or high and staggering around ineffectually, and I absolutely can't stand being around druggies or drunk people.

Saw it yesterday. Amazing. I think I liked it better than the first. And Heath Ledger was brilliant, I will admit.

Heath Ledger was so good as the Joker. Or SO BAD, I should say. Oscar-worthy? Absolutely. It's a lot more colorful and edgy acting than most of the oscar-winners ever do.

Rosie, glad you saw it so promptly. Acally, you MUST see it!

Oh, yeah. I was saying that on Saturday, already. I'll bet that he wins the Oscar. It almost seems impossible for him to NOT do so, even not considering how well he acts.

And he acts brilliantly. Superbly. There is not a second in the movie when you look at him and say "That's Heath Ledger under the makeup". Because it isn't. It's the Joker. Most definitely the best performance since La Vie en Rose. Maybe even better. It could be the best since Amelie.

So those two frenchie films are in the same line as The Dark Knight, in your opinion?

Actually we have two French movies (that are actually rated PG, if you can believe it). One is Jean de Florette, and it's sequel: Manon of the Spring. I've been meaning to get to them...perhaps tonight.

Clearly no, but Heath Ledger's performance is of the same caliber as the performances of Marion Cotillard and Audrey Tautou.

Oh my gosh I hate all you people! I'm dying to see The Dark Knight! I will seriously kill my friends if they want to see Mamma Mia! instead when we go to see a movie. I don't care if Mamma Mia! turns out to be a fabulous movie, I need to see The Dark Knight.

...

I'm good now.

That was a lot of italics...
