In my experience, people are jealous because they are insecure. They also don't like "losing" something, particularly a friend or partner, to another person. It makes them feel less important.

It is very rare to find a person who is so secure and unselfish that they can give you up so that you can be happy.

However, most people are able to deal with it. Some can't, and some of them can get nasty. Best confronted head on I think, and, also in my experience, "giving in" to it just leads to bigger problems later on.

Aaah! Why are stupid people playing stupid music outside my window when I'm trying to work?

Tell them to rot in...a salt lagoon or somethin'

I know what you mean exactly: we have over here what I call "black car music"...not necessarily emanating from black cars. Basically it's someone with their amplifiers up so loud that the earth shakes. I experienced this once when I was taking groceries out to a woman's car, and her daughter was sitting in there with the music so loud it was no longer music. And the earth did feel like it was shaking...horrid stuff.

I wouldn't mind if it was good music, Purcell or something, but it's so bad!

The kind of music you hear in the background of Italian restaurants, but really loud...

Hmmm...never been in an Italian restaurant, but I'm assuming it includes a harmonium?

I agree. And this person is a very insecure one. I guess I just thought that when people say they love you, they also mean they want what's best for you.. That's what I mean when I tell someone that. I guess it's more rare than I thought.

*sigh* Well, first time stopped by a police this morning. Let's just say I wasn't as sensitive to the school zone speed limit...He didn't give me a ticket, thanks to my clean record, but he did give me a little lecture. Well, I'm slightly annoyed, but I'm going to be humble and not think about it in a bad light...

I don't generally pay much attention to speed limits, but in a school zone, Hector!

Vent: I hate work.
Even more than work, I hate it when other people tell me how to do my job. This is not because I am doing it wrong, but because they were there first, and I do it differently and they don't like it. EVEN more than that I hate that they disguise telling me off as "nagging" me to do things.

Gah. That's it. I am telling them tomorrow that I will not be in next week. Screw them.

Why is this called the Temporary Venting Thread when it's been here for over two years? At what point does a thing cease being temporary and graduates into permanent-land, around here? Things that make you go, "Hmmmm..."

Well, notice how they've added quotes to "Temporary".

I believe it was a temporary replacement that was meant to exist for a certain amount of time until a permanent replacement could be posted (which makes no sense to me). But this was like back just after I joined, probably.

(I didn't post much outside of the LotR forums in those days. Ironic when you look at me these days, eh? In fact, I don't think I ever looked in GM for almost a year after I joined, not until after the Teacup Cafe was first created)

Thanks!! It's not quite as bad tonight.

(Hey, I just got my two youngest kids their own bow and arrows. Now we all shoot! My son chose red (hen) and black fletching; my daughter chose pink (hen) and turquoise fletching. How's your shooting going? I shot with a doinker for the first time a few weeks ago, too - hmmm, nice, but just doesn't look as cool ... do you use one?)

Sorry work is so awful ... Yeah, it's frustrating when people try to force you to do something their way - people just work differently *shrug* I hope it gets better, or that you find a better job soon. Jobs are often an annoying necessity, aren't they?

Hey, EXK, wasn't it you that started the original venting thread?

Anyway, a few years back, some posts and threads disappeared, and while the admins were trying to fix things we decided we couldn't survive without our wonderful Venting thread, so I think I was the one who made the Temporary Venting Thread until they could recover the regular one. They never recovered it, and it just kinda kept its new name. We should probably make the next incarnation just the regular Venting thread, but it's kinda fun to have the mystery and a tie-in with older Entmoot history, too (not that it's a mystery anymore, now that I explained it )

VENT - I'm tired of all this annoying stuff related to moving !!!!!! I wish it was just over.
