Nah, I just usually don't bring my obsessions into a conversation unless the conversation is already about that subject. Besides, it tends to ruin my image as an adult and a teacher when I tell people that I love Harvest Moon. Though for some reason it is acceptable for me to play RPGs like Fable and Oblivion (which were boring by the way once you figured out the system which I did rather quickly).
I love board games as well. I have a whole cupboard full. Unfortunately I don't know many people to play them with, but I do bring them to school sometimes to use them in class.

Mari, - no offense at all - but you're doing something very, very wrong.

That's utterly impossible an idea for me to comprehend.

Oblivion started off kinda boring. Skyrim is more fun lol

As for Fable, I never got very far into it so I can't say whether or not it were boring lol

Eärniel, I'd still highly recommend giving it a shot. The storyline and beautiful art might just win you over... and it is not a hard game even slightly. Just beautiful and fun, although I guess Mari didn't care for it too much.

I enjoyed Fable but I wouldn't play it again... too much grinding for levels. Same for Oblivion, I did not enjoy it. I loved Skyrim though... good fun, pretty graphics, fun storyline. Good times.

I remember my sisters and I spending hours playing the old LotR rpgs that were on floppy disks. By Interplay.

Quad post! That looks pretty cool! I just realized I had a few doubles in the Quote Game, and took them out. Tessar - do you want to clean up your own mess, or does someone else have to do it?

Nooo, don't tempt me! I've got like three other new games still lying around, wrapped in plastic, I haven't had the chance to play yet and at least a dozen Big Fish trial-games. I don't need more games to drool over!

Oh god, the time before game walkthroughs on the internet! There were times we were stumped for months, one case even years, on some games.

Still have the Two Towers on floppy, and one old 486 windows 3 computer to play it on, but allas one of the disk became corrupted, I fear, and it keeps stalling in Dol Guldur. Loved it.

I didn't play any of the floppy disk games but I am still stuck on the GameCube edition of The Third Age.

And yes, I still have my GameCube and I still play it on occasion

I don't think so. I figured out the economic system rather quickly (which was much more advanced in Oblivion than in Skyrim by the way, they skimped on that) and you can win pretty much every fight if you have the slow time magic along with lots of potions and the summon skill: you can just stand back, slow time every once in a while and keep repeating the summon skill along with a thunderbolt here and there. Beating dragons was easy and nets you quite a bit of power and loot. Seriously, it's too easy to be challenging when you've got those things and then you'll notice that all they have you do is go in a cave, fight some monsters, get out, time and time and bloody time again. Even the puzzle solving (quests) is way too easy. I liked Oblivion much better than Skyrim because it was just that bit harder to do.

I've got the N3DS version of Golden Sun. Now that keeps me occupied. *grins* And if we're talking about a really challenging game: I keep playing Civilization III, year in year out. Civ IV and V were way too easy, but I still haven't won Civ III. (Mostly because I'm too stubborn to let go of my idea of how a civilization should work)

This, this is the part I'll never get: why do you do that? Where's the role-playing aspect in that? If you play a warrior or a rogue, you don't learn any/much magic at all. You have to either go berserk with the warrior, or snipe and sneak-throat-slice as the rogue.

Don't use those hacks! It's that simple. If you play Skyrim on PC, btw, I can point you to a few mods - you won't complain about the game being too easy after that...
For example, "Revenge of the Enemies" and "Potions Animated" will do a lot. Revenge makes all enemies smarter/more numerous/tougher, while Potions makes you actually stop and drink the thing in real time - no more spamming dem potions.

I love the snipe and sneak. My favorite part of playing a rogue archer. My wood elf does that a lot in caves

See? Even the friggin' President of Entmoot agrees with me!

As for me, pretty much every character I play - who's not a mage - uses bow sneak attacks. It's simply so useful. Especially since I use the Deadly Headshots mod with the heavy helmet exception - as long as the victim of a headshot is not using a heavy helm, they die. Instantly.

Now who is using cheats? At least I figured out the system fare and square.
And I actually usually fight as a bow/magic user hybrid. I don't like up close fights because I can't see what's going on very well and it gives me headaches. Also, I prefer light armour over heavy armour so I can collect more ingredients on the way. In Fable I had a lovely katana imbued with lightning which would shoot bolts of lightning when I waved the thing around. I loved that thing.

I usually play on console, so I don't have access to mods. The only exception is on Dragon Age: Origins and the only mods I used were visual and extra companion and ability mods. I don't use the cheat mods either

My first game, a dark elf, was a magic/sword hybrid with light armor

Pray tell, how is it cheating if I make things more difficult for myself?
You figured out a system that takes away the joy from playing. Yay.

Well, I figured out the system in Harvest Moon as well, but I still buy every new HM game that comes out and enjoy them for hours and hours on end. It just means Oblivion and Skyrim weren't that good.

Now I imagine you stroking your copy of Oblivion and Skyrim, NEL, while whispering "Be still, my precious, she does not know of what she speaks."

Man, I feel old. I still see the GameCube as some newfangled technology rather than something that still works after all these years.

The deposed President of the Entmoot, to be precise. She was deposed when we declared Entmoot as an Enlightened Dictatorship.

Haha, exactly, Ëarn!

And thanks for the news, I'd been away for quite a while. Didn't know we had a dictator - so who is it? *plotting*
