I will naturally be serving green beer that is not crap. Sadly, numerous St. Paddy's day events use the excuse that their beer is green to serve heinous beer. I will not comprimise my beer quality in this way.

Monday is also a federal by-election in this riding. I will vote before I go out and drink.

I'm going to vote for the Green party (!!), but not because it's St. Paddy's day, because they are in fact, the best. You've all read (ha) about my Green party woes in this incredibly exciting thread, well now they have won me over with their reformed platform and dedicated, capable and energetic candidate! <3

Also, in honour of St. Paddy's Day, all my posts will be green until the sun sets on this fine celebration. Just cuz.

I bought something green today
St. Patrick's day sounds like a fun. We don't have it here though.

Say Nurv, if you have time, will you join in on the Save Hector Quest in the RPG-section? It was after all originally our quest. You can just ride up and jump in, but if you don't have time for it or feel like it, that's okay too.

Oh, so that's what happened to it! I'll see what I can do to save our illustrious president.

SAINT PATRICK'S DAY IS THE 17th OF MARCH.

THAT WOULD BE TOMORROW, IN THIS TIME ZONE.

THE 15th OF MARCH IS THE IDES.

Oh? Hmm...I wonder why all my favorite pubs were going all out then? I thought it was a bit off, but hell, dates are only relative.

*glomps Sis* How ya doin?

A Celebratory St. Patrick's Day Post

I know it's tomorrow, but I want to get to it first. A few things...

1) People should remember that St. Patrick's Day is not randomly named "Patrick". There is, in fact, a man behind the day...here he is:

And the very poetic "breastplate prayer" that he wrote.

But of course, the other things that have grown out of St Patrick's Day are also worth mention.

Pots of Gold:

Leprechauns:

and of course, Irish Whiskey:

(St Patrick's Day isn't an excuse to drink alcohol, it's an excuse to drink Irish alcohol)

Oh yeah, and read this book:

And a great piece on why people love the Irish.

It usually is, true, but since it would fall on Holy Monday this year, which for whatever reason is not allowed by the Catholic church, it got moved back to the 15th. It's something that happens only every once in a great while, not sure exactly how long. But anyway, St. Patrick's Day was the 15th this year, and yes it was the same day as the Ides, which left me wondering how I was going to fit two holidays in one day!

Katya, where are you from again? Actually having the Ides of March as a holiday is awesome.

Clearly, tomorrow should be spent reading "How the Irish Saved Civilisation" while drinking a Guinness and wearing a green Leprechaun hat.

Don't forget to wear green, or people will pinch you!

Tomorrow I will also vote in a by-election and finish (and start) the rough draft of an essay I have due.

(Also use this smiley a lot because it's green. )

Aha, so there WAS a reason all my favorite watering holes were going full out as though it was the actual day. Hah!

I'm from America, but I took it upon myself to start celebrating the Idea of March last year when I was taking HS101. Basically I just read up on my Roman history and walk around saying "R.I.P. Julius Caesar".

I said we have the book, not that I'd read it...yet.

It is about what it says it's about though. I've read the blurb on the back many times.
