Tessar, it's not THAT one-tracked. We talked about Kung Fu Panda and fireworks the other day. So at least it isn't just music.

That aside: talking about films will always work. Everyone has his or her own taste but there will always be at least one film all participants in the conversation will have seen.
And if everything else fails: talk about Rosie or give random hugs.

Sane, how old is she? I hope she gets better soon! ^_^

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I want to be a good musician, but I also want to be a well rounded person. I already keep on top of religion and politics, but I prefer not to discuss those very often and only with a few people that I know are good debaters. So those are out...

I'm thinking of picking up a 'How to Read Shakespeare' book I know is sitting on our shelves and seeing if I can dive a little ways into that just for starters. I'd still like some ideas though.

Anyone?
I'd suggest:
1) Learning languages. Planning/hoping to improve my Spanish and German, and to learn Italian and Arabic myself - and Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Greek, Swahili, Zulu, Russian, etc, etc...

2) Traveling. Looking at stuff is never so much fun as when that stuff is placed in a country where they they talk with stiff upper lips and/or you can sell your daughters for camels. It also let's you use 1) - win-win.

3) Re: literature, I'll just recommend three of my favorite authors: Orhan Pahmuk, Umberto Eco and George R.R. Martin. And of course there's always the classics; Joyce, Tolstoy, Hemingway, etc.

4) See teach12.com's catalogue, lots of cool stuff.

Tessar, this is an easy one. The most fascinating conversations are the ones where someone is listening.

You don't have to know anything about anything, you just have to ask other people about what interests them. If you listen to what they say you'll get a reputation as a swell guy, and you'll learn SO much.

It's way fun.

Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early posts
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last threads?
Whose broad types and bright fonts thru the perilous chat,
O'er the texts we were so gallantly typing?
And the forum's red glare, the admins bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our jammi was still there.
Oh, say does that green-white banner yet wave
O'er the forum of the free and the home of the brave?

And if you wouldn't do that on a stage, you'd get on anyway even if it's just to tell us how marvelous you are.

Say Hector... is that Bunicula standing behind you?

*Mari continues on Hector's shakespeare inspired moot playing*

'Tis but thy name that is my enemy;
Thou art thyself, though not a Berlioz.
What's Berlioz? it is nor hand, nor foot,
Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part
Belonging to a man. O, be some other name!
What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;
So hector would, were he not Hector call'd,
Retain that dear perfection which he owes
Without that title. Hector, doff thy name,
And for that name which is no part of thee
Take all myself.

*then Earniel walks out and chants*

From forth the fatal threads of these two foes
A pair of star-cross'd Mooters take their lives;
Whose misadventured piteous overthrows
Do with their death bury their parents' strife."

Sounds just like something Mari would say.

Well, *Arwen*, Mootology is really and addiction more than anything else. People who are "mooters" tend to stay online for hours and hours and hours and hours and hours....well, you get the point. They are also given to arguing, chopping each others' words, and scheming evil plots such as changing the website banner from green to pink. A very perculiar set of people. And I'm one of them
