Thanks, I'll wait another day to see if Curubethion responds as he posted the question. No reply in 72 hrs. we can post a question, and I'm ready.

Yeah, you got it.
In the future, if I don't show up within about a day, I probably won't be on for a while, so wait for one confirmation and then accept it as correct.

Great question, now let's see how long it takes our fellow Mooters to get it.

What character found the hobbits during their trip to Rivendell, but was never spoken to by Frodo?

Very good guess. It is not the character I was think as the answer for this question. I was thinking of a non-hostile (to the hobbits at any rate) character, but I think your answer does fit the question as I asked it.

If no one else writes the correct answer, you may have the next question.

{Actually, if I was to be a bit technical, Frodo did speak to the Nazgul. He spoke to all of them at the Ford. Still this is a very good guess.}

I'm thinking it probably WAS Glorfindel. Frodo wasn't in any kind of condition to speak much then, was he?

I'm positive there's mention of a fox being the lone creature to see them, or something like that. Maybe it was on the journey from Hobbiton to Crickhollow though...not sure.
I know there's a fox at some point.

Your crazy as a _ _ _ and have the correct answer as well. Well done.

IIRC, there were two foxes mentioned, but I am thinking of the one from the begining. (about pg. 21 in the edition I am reading from; When the three hobbits start out on their journey.)

P.S. It is your turn as well.

FYI and to show how editions differ. Page 21 in my book is still the prologue. Even adding 21 to the first page of the narative brings you into the middle of the Party. So you can see how difficult it may be to find things.

Agreed. Part of the reason why I added some background info about the fox from the book.

It doesn't help that I also made an error in typing the page number. It should read pg. 81 not 21.

I probably should have also included the book and chapter

The Fellowship of the Ring: "Three Is Company,"
"Hobbits!" he thought. "Well, what next? I have heard of strange doings in this land, but I have seldom heard of a hobbit sleeping out of doors under a tree. Three of them! There's something mighty queer behind this." He was quite right, but he never found out any more about it.
