Witty and sophisticated American writer and theater critic, oted for her satirical commentaries on marriage, intellectuals, and the role of women. Her novels were often drawn from autobiographical sources; she put friends, enemies, ex-husbands, thinly disguised, into her fiction. Her bestselling novel, THE GROUP (1963), was about her classmates at Vassar and their subsequent lives. Her seven novels appeared between the years 1942 and 1979. Most of her fiction and nonfiction explored the response of intellectuals to political and moral problems. Her attraction to Communism ended in 1936-37, but in the mid-1960s she re-emerged as a political essayist, writing against the Vietnam War. UNCLUED

American mystery writer, whose series character Dr. Basil Willing debuted in DANCE OF DEATH (1938). Willing believes, that "every criminal leaves psychic fingerprints, and he can't wear gloves to hide them." He appeared in 12 of her novels and in several of her short stories. She often used the theme of doppelgänger, but in the end of the story she showed a psychological or realistic explanation for the seemingly supernatural events. 560 - Moving on the floor with the Grim Reaper = Dance of Death 561 - Person reflecting luna's light = The Man in the Moonlight 562 - Lethal spoken point = The Deadly Truth 563 - The Lethal theatre sign = Cue for Murder 564 - The Escapee = The One That Got Away 565 - Viewing something on the other side of a window in an evil manner = Through a Glass Darkly 566 - Have made a new decision = A Change of Heart 567 - Taking another person's place falsely = The Imposter 568 - Reflecting furniture + dirty tobacco habit = The Smoking Mirror 569 - A statement about fallen leaves = Burn This Last edited by Grey_Wolf : 11-13-2006 at 12:51 PM. |

Um, could 560 indeed be the Dance of Death mentioned in the superhead? 'Cause dancing is moving across the floor, and Death is the Grim Reaper...
