'Then Tuor arrayed himself in the hauberk, and set the helm upon his head, and he girt himself with the sword; black were sheath and belt with clasps of silver. And as he stepped down from the doors the swans did him reverence, and plucking each a great feather from their wings they proffered them to him, laying their long necks upon the stone before his feet; and he took the seven feathers and set them in the crest of his helm, and straightway the swans arose and flew north in the sunset, and Tuor saw them no more.' -Of Tuor and his Coming to Gondolin "Oh. Paternal grandfather, Arador - in the Trollfells (fell to a troll, in fact)... his maternal grandfather, Dirhael - we don't know.

close enough... though the reference from the tale of aragorn and arwen gives a slightly different name than "trollfells" (i don't believe trollfells is in the appendix)

it was called the "coldfells" in the appendix... "trollfells" was from gandalf's explanation about evading the nazgul after his confrontation with them... it is never clear whether these refer to the same place, though the probably do
your turn!

We're going on quite a roll with the northern Dunedain,
Being my favorite topic, I won't break the chain: While still a prince, Arvedui married a princess. What was her name and which kingdom was she from? (Is this kind of a Valentine's Weekend question?) |
