Yeah, he is not always evil, but in the end he turns out to be evil (but I have to be kind, it was because of the ring).

But I think it's a good idea showing the younger Gollum in the Movie. the non-readers will understand better then, that Gollum was a normal creature then and had friends and all that stuff.

It's not always necessary to be extremely good-looking to be a cool and admireable actor. I think Andi Serkis has done really good work.
