I'm really jittery tonight... Everyone seems a bit anxious for me, actually... more so than I remember them being last time I went to DC. I'm not entirely sure what it is I'm nervous about. Maybe just excited.

I think one thing making me anxious is that I'm not entirely sure what my living situation is going to be like. We'll see!

Wish me luck and say a prayer for me! Tomorrow... well really Monday... two weeks of very hard work begin, and I hope to grow exponentially from the experience.

Okay, peeps, what's a decent exercise for arms and/or shoulders that doesn't involve having a set of weights?

Pushups are good for your whole upper/middle body.

You also might be interested in something called isometric exercise.

CLICK HERE! That's a link to a site about it. Should give you some general ideas of what it's about. I've heard it can be a great muscle strengthener, and it should also help you pack on 'lean' muscle if you are not trying to get super ripped.

Ah, is that so? My brother told me push ups only really do anything for your pecs; confound his trickery! I'm already doing them, though, so that's good.

I'll have to check out isometric exercises. I feel like I've heard of them before, and "lean muscle" vs. "super ripped" is definitely more my target.

Is that like where you do lower weight and more reps so that your muscles don't get huge but they get really strong? That is definitely the more badass way to go (as opposed to gross huge muscles).

Yes and no. Just keep in mind that when you are doing an exercise, if you feel a 'strain' on any muscle in your body then you are indeed 'working' that muscle (just be careful if you feel it in your 'joints' though, like your elbows or wrists, because that's not good if it's too much strain).

Also your brother may be right in a way... the pushups may be mostly valuable for building your pectorals, but any time you do a freeweight or body exercise (i.e. anything that is not a machine targeted to one special muscle group) you are going to get some residual benefit to other muscle groups.

I like cider. This year all brewers are promoting 'girly alcohol' like pink beer, sweet cider, sweet beer, etc. The sweet cider is fairly okay since it still tastes like cider, but good ol' Strongbow is better in general.

OMG I LOVE Strongbow. It's the only cider thing I've had though. I get it at the local pub sometimes but it's expensive so not that often. It's the only place I know of that sells it though. Yummmm.

LOL!

That reminds me ...

the day has come!!! My oldest son now officially has ... a girlfriend!

She's quite nice - she spent a few hours at our house the other night, and I got a chance to talk with her quite a bit (she even came over and sat next to me when she came out into the back yard - brave girl! I was too chicken to do something like that at her age!) She's a vet's assistant. They had quite a cute "meet" - she's the one that rear-ended my son's truck a few weeks ago. He was so nice throughout the whole thing that she ended up giving him her phone #, saying she wanted to treat him to dinner because he was so nice about it, then they ended up hitting it off quite well, had some more dates, and then he came into my room t'other night and said, "It's official - we're boyfriend and girlfriend!" (so cute! sorry, can't help it!)

Anyway, my middle son came up to me with big eyes last night and said, "Hey Mom, I just thought you should know - he kissed her!"

Oh my - kids ... *sinks into a comfy chair and drinks a strong cup of tea*

Awwwwwwwwwww. How sweet. ^_^

Today we had a hilarious moment in our Thais rehearsal... there is a line where my character calls the girl, Thais, "Saint Thais," because he is 'blessing' her basically. Only in French it basically sounds like you're saying "Santa Thais" (only the first 'a' is really nasal so it's not like Santa Clause). So during the rehearsal our Thais sneezed, and in perfect unison the director and I looked at each other, then looked at her and said, "Bless you, Santa Thais."

I think it freaked her out a little. I love my director!!! She and I operate on the exact same level.
