No, it is not Sauruman or Wormtongue. Here's a clue to narrow it down: This is a Silmarillion riddle.

Yes, the Easterlings who occupied Hithlum where Morgoth sent them instead of the richer lands of Beleriand to the south that was promised them. It was said that this betrayal was the single most important factor leading to Morgoths victory. Good job Beor! Nice to see you in here again.

Hurin? (The first answer that popped into my head, I'm not sure if it fits the riddle, I haven't read the story for a while).

It's not Hurin. The imagery is from something wholly other.

YEE - HAW is right Beor and so are you! The riddle concerns the first images that Sam sees when he looks in the mirror. The sleeping figure is thought to be Frodo after Shelob's attack. Good job guessing and you didn't even need a clue!
