Don't worry. I have so many pillows I can't really stuff them in my secret hiding space anymore, so they kinda lay around everywhere. Ditto for my blankies.

Whiiiieeeeeh! ^_^
This place is the best place for hugglin' and cuddlin' On a whole different note: for school I'm looking into different sorts of primary education and came across the requirements for going to a school for brilliant kids... I would have been able to enter if we had had those schools back when I was in primary school... I would have loved that! *sigh*

You know, I think it might be fun to teach at a 'free school'. Boarding school of course.
*is still engrossed in different educational styles for her assignment* I'd have to move to the UK or the US for that though.

Hehe, if they can get me a green card
At least, I think I need one in order to teach in the US. I think I want to finish my degree first, though I wonder why I keep coming back to teaching while I can't handle 7 to 17 year olds...? I am weird *sigh* Pastoral care is also very attractive.

I've seen a lot of these kinds of schools. All different approaches. But two things affect the school experience so much, in practice. One is, who are the students and teachers? When they're nice, the environment is much nicer. And the second is, "What kind of fit is there between the learning styles of the students and the teaching styles of the school?"
This is the place many gifted programs fall apart. Because if you have a gifted program that becomes very 'hands on' (as many of them do) it works for a lot of kids who would not fare well in a traditional lecture program. It doesn't maximise the potential for strong auditory learners, however. My two cents, as they say.

Hmmm, I would have loved to be able to study what I wanted and when I wanted it. Now everytime I had time left over I had to read, which would have been great if the library hadn't been so limited.
Plus extra projects and more contact with the teacher, smaller classes. I think I would have liked that. Might have prevented me from getting bullied too. I just took the Myer-Briggs test. Apparently I am an INFJ-type. The description was so much like me though! I never would have guessed. Ah well, I guess you see in those descriptions what you expect to see and ignore the parts that do not fit. Apparently Mother Theresa, Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King were/are also INFJ's. Coolness. ^_^

I'm an INTJ. Pretty close.
I was very fortunate, in school, to have teachers who gave me the extra assignments and opportunities to work alone, without a "gifted" program. However, if you'd been in school with me, you wouldn't have been bullied. I've never stood for that.

Hehe, funny thing is: if someone else gets bullied I won't stand for that either, not even when I was bullied. I just couldn't (and still in a lot of cases can't) stand up for myself.
Oh, funny story about an intern teaching my class: I was always allowed to read after finishing my assignments, but I had the tendency to get really engrossed in my books, so I wouldn't notice a thing around me (very handy ability when people are badmouthing you too ). That happened this time as well, but the teacher hadn't told my intern about that, so I had missed 3 pages of language class before she noticed I wasn't paying attention... she got very VERY angry. I got angry too for her treating me so unjust, so I don't think I answered any of her questions for the rest of the day. I wonder what sort of feedback the teacher gave her though. I don't think you are supposed to show that to your class.

That's actually how I read Tolkien the first time. In 4th grade (age 9 or so) they gave us "Snow Treasure" a kids' novel about Norwegian resistance to the Nazis. We got it on Friday and I came in Monday prepared to discuss it. And when they found out, they said, "Um. We were planning to do this for 2 months. How about read this long set of books and keep quiet?"
LOL

Haha, yes, I used to bring in my own books because I had read all those in the class-library.
Actually, when I think about it, it's kinda sad how bad the class-library was. How was it at your school? By the way, I don't know who Louisa May is/was, but she is absolutely right. I would like to do that as well. >_<
