Well, all predictions, just about, were proved wrong. Rugby was the overall winner in what was an excellant series of games. Well done England for winning a good match. And thanks Australia for putting on a good show!

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahaha you see no one really cares about crickets in this country. Mind you not that many people like Rugby either but we will still beat you at that. I think if we set our minds to it we could easily beat you at every sport but we have better things to do

Good game, and at least it was a drop goal- would have hated to see it won by a penalty.

What about the France/NZ game? I'm against these third place/fourth place playoffs- they did the same thing in the soccer
World Cup (OK, OK, Football World Cup). Nobody wants to be there, and not many want to watch.

Pom, Millane? Yuck! I'm Scottish however, given that the Scots have had an abysmal few weeks as far as sport is concerned then I can't say too much. Cant take it away from England though. They did very well. What worries me is that we, in the UK, will never hear the end of it!

Well, if it gives them something else to harp on about apart from 1966, it will be an improvement.

I see England were utterly humiliated at cricket by Sri Lanka. Hey ho.

SWING LOW SWEET CHARIOT

There's nothing quite like sitting down at nine o clock in the morning in a pub in scotland, surrounded by people in hats with corks on, watching the most nerve racking game i've seen in quite a while.

As for the cricket, there are great lancashire players in the team, and as long as dear old freddy (when at home, he cycles past our house regularly) keeps on form i'm assured we'll never be completely totally trounced.

only mostly trounced, and there's a great deal of difference between mostly trounced and totally trounced.

In case you're wondering Freddy is Andy Flintoff.

He he. I trust my countrymen were celebrating a fine English triumph?

Freddy is a great player; hope he steers clear of injury, and maybe scarify his bowling a bit.

OMG There is a corner on this planet that hasn't heard of Geoff Hurst! I always wondered why so many Scots want to go an live in New Zealand. The secret is out.

BoP, what are property prices like where you live?

Lol. I guess ignorance really is bliss.

Unfortunately, property prices are catching up to the rest of the world. You shoulda bought a few years ago... Guess you'll be needing that T.A.R.D.I.S. then?

You're determined to work Dr Who into this thread, aren't you?

Well, seeing as how the RWC is over, why not?

Me, I'm a Tom Baker man. Jon Pertwee was pretty good, and I remember being resistant to the new face when he morphed into Baker, but he was definitely The Man.

How crappy were those sets? That thing in the centre of the TARDIS that went up and down. They couldn't even afford a tube of KY jelly to make it slide smoothly. OMG.

I didn't understand anything in the last posts, and I want to be sure - did England win?

Yes, deservedly so. Won it with a drop-goal in extra time (14-14 at full time, they won 20-17). Good for them, and great to see a Northern Hemisphere team lift the trophy for a change.

My daughter and me used to watch the Rugby World Cup whenever possible. Our favourites were the All Blacks. Well, they didn´t make it.

What has Dr Who to do with Rugby and the year 1966?

I thought it was when Germany lost a football game at Wembley against England with a doubtful goal that was given (or not given, can´t remember) and decided the game. Anayone old enoúgh to remember?

Yes, that's the occasion. Dr Who came up because it was preferable to explaining to BeardOfPants (gotta love that name) what was significant about 1966, and why it's so, so, so boring that people in England STILL go on about it.

I was one year old at the time.
