What, me? Because I like Prachett? Or is Pratchett your soul mate? (Brilliant man....)

Possibly...I don't know. And I don't really care. I like both of them as authors and I love all thier works...so it doesn't really matter.

I discovered to awesome festivals this weekend.

September 19 is International Talk-Like-a-Pirate-Day! Arrr.

September 29- November 1 is the Catholic celebration of Michealmas. Traditional food is anything stuffed. Stuffed peppers, stuffed grape leaves, stuff-crust pizza, and most importantly stuffed cabbage.

I think that's mighty cool.

Just of the the way Tolkien pictured elves, I think.

I just discovered that cats can shed enormous quantities of hair while fighting without looking less hairy afterwards. Amazing. if only they could have done so one day earlier, before I had cleaned the house.....

Yeah...Int. Talk like a pirate day is also my half birthday. Go me.

Stuffed? *snerk* Sounds like fun....Heee....(I'm sorry...but anytime I hear that word I always think of the line "a maid? And stuffed?" from Much Ado...and for Shakespeare, that word has a meaning that I shouldn't say on a public forum. Heh...I just thought it was funny.)

^ I have re-discovered that I am an utter nerd (see above...if I can type that... )

Quoted from a interview with Pratchett (or something similar...):
Quote:
- On the quality of Tolkien's writing.

"What is a master writer?

I read Tolkien now and notice the gaps, the evasions, all the 'bad' things... but few books have had the effect on me that TLOTR had when I was thirteen. Is he better or worse, for example, than Anita Brookner, widely regarded as a 'fine writer' although terribly dull to read? What is a writer supposed to achieve?

Before I rank Tolkien, I'd like to know how the scoring is being done."

I mean really. Of all the days... It made me very happy...

Tano
Tanoliel you just made my day! That's such a good story! I'm going to be 40 in a couple of weeks time (yes, 40, it's not the end of the world and I don't need a zimmer frame quite yet!) and the point I wanted to make is that you go on discovering things every single day throughout your life - isn't that great, you never need get bored because there's always something new to learn or discover!

What's more, I've read LOTR over 30 times and yet every time I still learn something new (and no, I'm not slow or thick - well, not medically anyway) it's just that the book is full to overbrimming with so much stuff that it takes a lifetime to see it all - which shouldn't be so surprising as it took a lifetime to write!

Strangest thing I've discovered recently? Light (from the sun) actually has weight (Einstein proved it) and over 20 tons of light falls on the planet every day! Luckily for us, it is so spread out that we feel nothing when the tiny bits of light fall on us. Otherwise, I guess we would have to call it 'heavy' instead of 'light'! Groan ! (You see, just because you get older, you don't have to get more sensible!)

Glad it made you happy.

Light has weight...well, yeah, that makes sense, but I never really thought about it before...huh.

I like hot apple cider. Especially good if it's the real stuff - but even the instant is OK. Good with pizza.

We picked up pizza tonight. Made up some instant cider - and my middle son (3 on Saturday!) came into the kitchen and asked for Sunny Delight.

I don't know what inspired me, but I topped off my cider with Sunny Delight as well. Maybe 6 oz cider, 1 or 1.5 oz of SD.

Very, VERY good!

btw... Sunny Delight, I'm convinced - is Tang!

kindergardeners... an odd species

Today, I discovered that Kindergardeners are a odd and strange species. If one has a headache/ stomach ache, then all have a headache/stomach ache. If one has to go to the bathroom, all have to go to the bathroom. Therefore, a new "no teetee" policy has been implemented for the week in the 45 minute music class I'm substituting for. And their regular classroom teacher agrees.

They haven't got any pads for g-strings out, do they? I don't know how that'll work, but that's just gross anyway. *Shudders*

I've discovered that though I can stay away from the Moot for 2 months, I can't last without junk food for more than 2 days. Show some willpower, Lin!

I've also discovered that I'm developing crushes on everyone I see on TV. Too bad Jamie's got Jules, yeah?
