It was just an observation I (and my family, including bmilder) had when we were in Montreal! It was a generalization..... i'm not saying that your relatives do (good for them) - just that a lot of people do. I should have said a lot and not everyone, I apoligize.

I also did not visit any residential areas.... just the area in which I visited, there was a ton of smoking going on everywhere!

This does not mean that everyone smokes. sorry for my original wording. The same aplies that just because your relatives don't smoke and on a visit you did not notice too much smoking, does NOT mean that not a lot of people smoke. There was a WHOLE HECK OF A LOT. But then again, this was several years ago, so maybe the Canadians have advanced a bit

Dispite my mistake, cursing and and otherwise disrespecting an admin is not very wise and it goes against entmoot regulations.

That is funny "maybe the Canadians have advanced a bit" But it may be that so few New Jerseyans smoke that when we go somewhere - we see it a lot more. I know in Indiana everyone smokes.

I don't have a comment on the "apology," but I have noticed a lot of back and forth between the Americans and Canadians, and although I know most of it is in fun, I just want to say that as an American, I LOVE Canada and Canadians. I'm proud that we have the longest unarmed (is that the right term?) border in the world, and it's because we love each other. I have never visited Canada unfortunately, but I plan to someday when I actually have money. Now we just need to work on our border w/ Mexico, and get it to the same level of unarmed-ness (?). Then we'll all be one big happy continent

That is basically because they're the 51st state. We just have to get the paper work finished with Britain. Britain has to first have to agree since they OWN Canada.

Well Mexico I think might be next in statehood after Canada - they can be the 52nd state. After that - North America will be one BIG happy continent - as well as country.

It's actually undefended border. We don't even need passports to travel between America to Mexico or Canada. I know Canadians don't need a passport to travel to America - just not sure about to Mexico.
