I've never lied online, except in one or two cases when some weirdo in a chatroom started constantly IMing me and sending me emails about how much he loved me and such.... I've never lied on Entmoot though, and generally I've found messageboards to be both safer and more interesting than chatrooms. As for meeting anyone, I haven't, but I talked to Feraway on the telephone! When it comes to trust, well, I definitely trust RE..... I don't usually think about it. When you meet real people, do you trust them? It's a matter of getting to know someone, whether in person or through writing doesn't matter that much. I used to have a penpal who always wrote me, but he was really strange and I didn't believe most of what he said. My feelings were right in this case, he turned out to be some 40-year-old - though not a pervert, I think, just some poor lonely guy who wanted to talk to someone.

I tend to be pretty trusting with people I meet online. However I don't go in chatrooms, and I don't go looking to meet people online, and I don't post around looking for an internet boyfriend. I have a few ppl I chat with on AIM, but it's mostly small-talk and they aren't soo interested in my location or anything and I'm not too interested in theirs.

I only very rarely get a consistent relationship over the internet... the only examply i can think of is some guy I met on fanfiction.net who I get along pretty great with (online). I have talked to him on the phone once, and he certainly is not a middle-aged pedophile.

Then there is unregistered/caleb who I had not met in person until TTT but I'm not sure that counts, as his cousin goes to my old school.........

But yeah. I trust people online a bit but I don't seek internet relationships, and I'm not usually that interested in talking to individuals thru internet.

i think the young teenage girls those old men stalk that you hear about are the type who go on neopets and openly complain about relationship problems or request a boyfriend... they make themselves vulnerable and I think they tend to be a bit exposed and vulnerable... not the type of person I am, so my parents need not worry

I wish they could figure that out though.
