That was really a good question, Arien - I had never thought of Sauron having a "pre-evil" name before - I wish now that we knew it, because I like knowing Morgoth's "pre-evil" name.
Yeah, sorry. I didn't see your correction I suppose. I didn't read the link, I'll do it as soon as I post this.

EDIT: Yeah, I read the link... hilarious! But you know, it's true. I can't recall how many times I've seen a movie and wondered why the Evil Overlord was such a dim bulb.

I'll say; the Balrog was "of all Elf-banes most deadly, save he who sits in the Dark Tower."

Elf-Bane!!!, that's like, a bane that's an elf, right? Like an elf-lord? Or an elf-maid? Huh? Right?

Because... like... if they're an elf-bane, that should mean they're an elf and a bane. Not that they kill elves. That's just silly!

Think about it. What was Theoden's Bane? What was Isildur's Bane. Now, what is an Elf Bane?

But... Snowmane was Theoden's bane because she was his horse, (Theoden's) and she was dangerous (A bane). Same thing for the Ring. It was in Isildur's possession, and was a bane, so it was Isildur's bane. Right?

Yes, but in the case of Middle-earth, a "Bane" was something that was dangeruos and was the cause of death for certian people, as you said. But, a Balrog could certianly be considered an Elf Bane, or Elven Bane as the case may be. It certianly caused the deaths of many Elves, and was dangeruos. We may just be interpreting the word in different contexts. But when Attalus used the term "Elf-Bane" I saw it as something that has killed, or been the cause of death to many Elves.

O.o

Bane is defined as...

A deadly poison (ex., wolfbane)
Fatal injury or ruin
A cause of harm, ruin, or death (ex., Elf-bane)
A source of persistent annoyance or exasperation (ex., "Fangirls are the bane of my existance.")
Since the entity causes harm or death to Elves, then it can be called Elf-bane.
