I feel sure PJ did read them. Strider and Gandalf, on the other hand, only read the books for the first time on the airplane to NZ. That doesn't make them any less excellent actors.

I know that several of the actors didn't even read all of Lord of the Rings. They still did well.

Probably not, BoP.
I mean, give the guys a break people. The movie was 3 hours long. If they put in every thing, it would have been like 4 1/2 and not as many people would see it. Hollywood

Or was it remade by Celebrimbor in Eregion??? Either story is a possibility. But I know, I'm being a nitpicker.

I agree that Arwen's purty little necklace does not live up to the Elessar.

And let's not forget that Galadriel giving Aragorn the Elessar has cool marriage connotations: traditionally, before an Elven marriage, the bride's mother (or grandmother, in this case) gives the groom some kind of gem/pendant, and vice versa. I'm not sure how *Elrond* feels about this, since Aragorn hasn't officially won-the-kingdom/gotten-the-girl....

I still can't believe Arwen's showing up at Helm's Deep. Blech.

I can't beleive that Arwen is showing up in Helms Deep either!
I think that her role has been enlarged enough already.
As for the giving of the gifts being in the extended DVD, well....what can I say? It's great that they managed to fit the gifts in somewhere but now, if I want to see them, I have to buy/rent the extended version when I already own the non-extended version. i guess I should have waited to buy.
