Also, as discussed in other threads, not to mention that hobbits age differently than humans. But we digress.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I had to weigh in.
It is VERY evident in the books how Merry and Pippin grow as characters, culminating in the Scouring! PJ had to dramatize this in a very stark way, as well as adding humor (of which there IS some in the books as well) to a movie meant for a mass audience, not to mention because of the time constraints. A book is able to portray characters in a way a movie cannot, thus Pippin and Merry need to be introduced w/ a "bang", rather than just sticking them in (as it would seem to the general audiences, most of whom haven't read the books), to wait for their major moments in the next movie. It is then my HOPE that Jackson will be able to pull off this transformation effectively, especially since I was told they won't be doing the Scouring, but I think they can portray it using the Gondor scenes -- as long as they don't focus overly on the Aragorn/Arwen romance!

So, Billy, how DID you get that Latex smell out of your toes after shooting finished?

There's a moment in the film where you look genuinely puzzled...how did you sustain that look for over 3 hours?

DO you feel bad about getting Gandalf killed? Huh? HUH?!?!?

Neither Merry or Pippin even gave Frodo the speech about being friends and that no matter what bad stuff may be ahead of them - they were there to support Frodo. Ask him why that side of Pippin and Merry was left out. To me that was the key reason they were on the quest.

Sorry - but Pippin was my favorite character in the books - but I hated him in the movie. But again it was because of Jackson. The script and direction just twisted Pippin and Merry's characters into two clowns.
I have to disagree...at least in one sense...about them being two dimesional...I recall the scene where they realize Frodo is leaving...so they sacrifice their safe harbour to let Frodo escape..then as Boromir's dying..oh god..*sniff*...they (in slow mo of course) look at each other with burning tears int heir eyes, as they ever so bravely...charge at the Uruk-Hai ...oh geez...that scene really gets to me...

What were the other cast member's like? I mean did you get along with everyone or was there someone who you didn't like. Who was it if there were?

Uh... I don't know if he'd want to answer that last one, but I have some news if you haven't seen Orli IRL: he does NOT have long blond hair. *sniff* It's short and curly. I think he looks better as Legolas.

Plus I think this thing has already happened, so I don't think whoever needs any more questions, but I'd like to know how it went.

I agree with you azalea, but she really wanted to mention Orlando Bloom.
She was going to put something else but we were at school...
And believe me she KNOWS that he has short curly hair, she has so many posters of him.

(btw she is here with me now telling me what to write coz her computer is bust!)

I apoligize if someone else has asked these question, but I have only read the first post in this thread.

What did you try to bring to the character of Pippin?

What do you feel is the role of Pippin in the movie?

What do you feel is the role of Pippin in the books?

I think that the Hobbits especially Merry and Pippin brought the humour into the film do you think that they did?

Sorry to burst your bubble....

Orlando Bloom has a crew cut, not short, curly hair. They wanted to lift his hairline for the movie. Orlando's comments? Quote: "I like it. I can have long hair in the movies, and a Crew cut when I go back home."

Well, hullo everyone. As you can see, I don't hang out here muchly anymore. There's a good reason for this. Y'see, I've been hanging out at a different chatboard called Cardboardia. So far, I've been havin' a blast. Not that I don't love the TLA, but the magic of Entmoot is lost on me. So, as soon as TLA ends, so will my existance here, probably.

Who knows though? I might stay. Highly unlikely however. This is a good bye in advance, then. Unless you want to join me and my group of friends at Cardboardia.

Cheers!

actually, it's a black Mohawk. just to clear that up. there are millions of pictures of Orli Bloom on the 'net, go check 'em out.

Was it hard to play a 29-year old hobbit?

Was it hard to get along with some of the other actors at first?

Only 2 questions for me ;

1 How did you stop from flinching whilst waiting for the apple to hit you in the legendary '2nd breakfast' scene ?

2 How intimidating was it to play opposite such a legendary actor as Sir Ian ?

*shoots an arrow at viggosbeard*

Balrogs do not have wings!!!!!!!!!!

Here's a question: Did you like that artistic use of wing-like shadow around the balrog?
