Re: On an island...

What part of "in complete isolation for the rest of your life" don't you people understand? I was kidding in my first one... I wouldn't even think of eating Legolas... okay, maybe once, but I'd remember we wouldn't have any condiments.

I think I'd really choose Sauron, after being overthrown. I'd just make fun of him the whole time.

ahh , the chance to slay an elf(no offense to all the elves in here) or in that case anything, would be too great to pass up. it would be an honorable death

You want to kill me!!??? I'll kill you first!

[quote]PLEASE LET ME STATE I'M NOT FLAMING. THIS IS THE WRITTEN WORD SO THIS MAY BE PERCEIVED DIFFERENTLY THAN IT WAS MEANT

sorry kid but ME is a dangerous place even for the greatest of THAT realm.

read my reason above

who many of us has been in REAL melee combat with their lives at stake, many times, and with orcs, trolls, nazgul and hordes of trained human warrior

this is not a flame but just an assessment[quote]

It's okay Afro, i don't take it as a flame. You appear to have thought out your argument rather well.
However, i reckon some people are strong enough to live in ME. Okay no ones ever had a real fightt wit an orc, but people have been in real fights and uderstand battle. I think we're underestimating everyone here, that's all. Besides, if you took a gun back then you'd probably scare everyone away!

yes i mentioned the types that could. but i don't think many at the moot are that caliber.
most modern military training does'nt focus on melee combat

i assumed that we would be using their tech not ours ( as far as guns)

A very reasonable set of ideas!

Could it also be that those accounts were given by a bunch of exagerating hobbits who thought that everything was much bigger than they?

Remember, measurements used to depend on body parts partly.

Good thing my wish was only to stay with Eowyn. Heheh.

Probably Thomas Bombadil, in terms of survival.

Miss Undomiel, in terms of occupying my time (hehe...)

So it depends on what I want more: either I spend all my time with Arwen, making half-elven babies, or I get an enigma to ensure my protection.

Nah. Evenstar all the way.

I would accompany Gandalf.

It would be really fun. I would walk around with him, find fault in every thing he says, construct logical arguments against his beliefs and thoughts - it would be so cool!!

I would then cause Gandalf's self-esteem to deteriorate. He would think I am much wiser than he is, thus I would become Anduril the White:
Quote:
"Yes, Narsil was my name..."
With my superior powers, I would make Gandalf unclothe himself (not in the way you are thinking), so that his true power could be exhibited to all. Then, as a result of his emotions not being affected by a frail, humanesque body, he would challenge me to a duel of the minds. He would construct counter arguments of infalllible magnitude.

However, that would all be in vain. You see, I am Anduril the White. I am a sword. Swords can't talk. You should have noticed that by now...

Therefore, he would be arguing with himself (he would think of arguments that I might have made, and then counter those - all in his own mind (how whack is that!!??)

After all this, I would wake up, and find Legolas looking far into the distance (as if he was sleeping while his eyes were open...)

Anyway, it was he who I had actually accompanied. It all become very clear. And there was a reason for my actions. Whenever we all walked past young screaming Legolas fans, I would stoop down and whack him on the shin with my fist. Since I am Anduril, it would actually be a blade that struck his shin.

Anyway, Legolas would start crying, as if he was a lonely, unappreciated wuss, and I would steal all the glory...

I. AM. DUNEDAN!!!!

==========

To all those who have read the above post, I deeply apologize. I will henceforth withdraw mine strange and funnily funny humour into the abyss that is depression...

I kinda see wht you're trying to say, but if you were suddenly thrown into ME right now, do you think you wouldn't get used to how they lived there? And that you'd be killed straight away.
If you think about it, you call them all great warriors but to become great they all had to start at the beginning. It'd be like thatt. Youd start knowing little and get better. I think a lot depends on luck because they all had to have a first fight somewhere along the line. And you'd realise that if you wanted to survive then you must become stroger.

Nice point Arathorn!

these people have YEARS of combat experience they have trained longer than we've been alive. (save boromir maybe)

if you were SUDDENLY with them NOW. you don't have years of training.

ok think of this RIGHT NOW at this very moment you are thrust suddenly unto the battle of pelenor fields you are weighed down by and equipment that you have never used before

who has the stamina of any of the nine walkers?

there is just not enough time to train if you suddenly appear

the hobbits used a manner of speech and measurents from westron they would have been standard.

the hobbits were not with the 3 hunters

there are other sources of the abilities of the free peopls besides the hobbits accounts

IF it is a matter of arriving in ME YEARS before and KNOWING what path to take then I would give us all a better chance because we could all practice

True, you probably would have problems. But when faced with fight or death you quickly adapt to the situation! Plus, you aren’t on your own, the others would help you. The questina was who would you go with?

[quote]who has the stamina of any of the nine walkers?[quote]

Depends if you’re talking about when they were all together or when separated. Also no one has specified the race they would choose to be, if given a choice at all. If you think of yourself as a human (or elf as lots of ppl here seem too) then you’re gonna be a lot stronger than the hobbits. So when the nine were together you could probably keep up.

[quote] there is just not enough time to train if you suddenly appear [quote]

You could always run away. Or hide out in some dark place.

So AE if given the choice, would you not watnt to live in ME because you think you’d die?

I'd go with Boromir (not down the river, though).

Um, it's because I like Sean Bean (anybody see him in the Vicar of Dibley? Yummmmmm.)

I would insist upon one thing, though:

THAT HE WASHES HIS HAIR!
Men are mejor turn-offs if they have gross greasy hair. I'm Ok with dirty clothes, I mean, he's a hunter. But, being an heir, it is a responsibility for him to take a passing interest in personal hygeine.

Uh... yeah... But what about Pippin and Merry, they weren't trained fighters, and they adapted quite well.
