No, John Schlitt is still very much with Petra, he has done one or two solo projects, but has no plans to leave the band. Being that Petra has been around for 30 years, its a good steady job.

Heh, I'm originally from Houston, you should see the rainstorms there if the ones in D/FW impressed you. In Houston it rains like that out of a clear blue sky. And the red dirt up here is nasty for anything but growing grass (the lawn variety, stop thinking 'weed' ) or cotton and so forth. Have to get real dirt to grow veggies round here. Bums me out. But we had a lovely mild winter here.

Delirious rocks (gonna see them in concert next monday)
and Jars of Clay (got thier new album "The eleventh hour" - it's so-so)
Also Rich Mullins (love his lyrics but his songs are really hit and miss, either really good or really bad)
Matt Redman is great
But my biggest gripe about most Christain bands is that they are uncreative musicians. You put any Chistian band in the secular world and they wouldn't last a minute, because they're no good!!
But since they have the market cornered (Christian consumers) they feel no need to extend themselves father then they need to .
It sucks because what should be the message behind thier songs is so vital.
All that being said, does anyone thnk U2 is Christian?

yea i think that most christain bands cant make it in the secular market cause the other ones are either moralistic like creed and u2
or in the rare case are POD

I personally think LaRue's song "Movie Star" MIGHT make it, but I just really like that song.

Yeah, it's funny, POD climbed up the TRL charts, and most of the kids had no idea what they were really talkign about.

i don't reckon they would classify themselves as a christian band, but loads of their lyrics talk about god, and thankful words and stuff.

Yeah, one Christian book stopre wouldn't sell there albums any more because they toured with Barenaked Ladies, and they were offended by the name.

I don't have a whole lot to do with Christian bookstores anymore. They have their heads in the sand.

And they're so friggin expensive!!! Ahhh... it's horrible. Regadless I just finished reading a book called "Walk On. The spritual journey of U2." It was written by a pastor. Seems he believes, and I do in a way as well, that you don't have to be singing Halleluja all the time. Sometimes you can look at the world and sing about what you see and sometimes *gasp* you can be mad at God because he doesn't make sense and write and sing about that. Thing is most Christians think that to be singing " I have cursed thy rod and staff. They no longer comfot me" is to be Anti-Christian.
I don't think so. Opinions?

Does anyone here like black Christian artists???? I find they get left out of a lot of these discussions.

I think my favorite right now is Mary Mary.

U2 is a band that has several Christian members but they are not a Christian band. They didn't feel 'called' to further the Christian agenda ...whatever that is.
I know Bono has gone incognito to a Christian music festival in England...cause Tony Campollo (a popular minister) was there with him...

I love going to my teen mass. It's like going to a concert! There's electric violin(my favorite), piano, guitar, drums, all sorts of stuff! There's also wonderful singers.

Now there's an avid christian!

Not meaning to diss religion at all, but a lot can be said of the fact that despite the numbers of christians far out waying athiests/agnostics, their music still hasn't broken into the mainstream.
