Want to rhyme
I've got the time Oh well, I can't think I'm on the brink Of a poem- hm- what rhymes with poem? Not very witty I'm having a fit-ty I'm usually great This is what I hate: Writer's Block Havin' a wall My brain stalled Or crashed or melted Or got banana-pelted- Writer's Block.

I've been chasing grace; Grace ain't so easily found One bad hand can devil a man, chase him and carry him down. I've got to get out of here, just give me One Good Year! |

I've been thinking about a coffee poem all morning, so this isn't 'off the cuff'. But I can't quite form the words... I need to study I need to focus Not stay up late Or lie in bed Awake. But I can't resist it This morning I missed it That excellent brew Gets a hold on you. Not too hot Made fresh in the pot No instant crap I'll have none of that. I'm addicted to coffee Can't wake up with just tea Oh, that excellent brew Will you have some too? (A little rough, but it gets the message across. )

Poems are motion
In verse or in prose A poet's emotion Quite clearly glows Poems are moving In blank or in rhyme A poem is soothing Most of the time For poems are passion And all we can feel In any bright fashion They can be real. A poet's a god At least in his head And thoughts that are odd Are never quite dead.

Audacity shines in the stars while
the sky speaks of loneliness to come in day. When all the stars ha'e been chased away by the glaring sun's salacious rise. ... Give me a break. I'm tired.

Snow outside
Falls on the heads of the people below But snow on the head Cold Wet Sticky Is nothing compared to the snow in the heart Frigid Clammy Deadly It grips and it does not let go Not 'til the heart has burned itself out Trying to melt The snow of the heart. Snow on the head makes a snowball But snow in the heart makes me bawl.

You cut me, you knew it;
I cut you back, you feigned surprise. The knife is in my hand- you gave it to me; Why the fakery? Why the lies? You gave me a blade, A shard of your own You taught me to pierce, to cut, to stab Now I put into practice those things my master taught me I turn on my master as my master has turned on me. But why? I am lost, with only a blade and a vengence You shoved it in my hand and made me stab myself And you give me no explanantion. Free me from this prison- you put me in a box And all I can do is cut my way out and hurt you Or pierce myself and die. Let me go or let me die. Let me pierce myself and die.

Route 531, Westbound
The snow crunches
Below freezing, underfoot, And under tires. But the roads are clear And salt-coated, Turning red paint grey. Sixty-five miles an hour On Route 531, Rising sun behind, Westbound in the morning. Cold morning, all warmth hangs Like fog above breath And exhaust-pipes. Trees, Coated in diamond-lace Glow silver as I pass. Sixty-five miles an hour On Route 531, Rising sun behind, Westbound in the morning.

Wow!! I winced when I read this. Very powerful, Rosie. Enough to show that words can honestly hurt. Excellent poem!

Sitting in front of the computer screen,
My once dark tan is turning green, and though some might be full of spleen, I find that it's much better not to be mean! My computer can't help it if I sit all day, It can't help it if I resist a walk by the bay, for indeed the sky above is so gray, That Angels would fear to tread there today! |

Ha! I like it. I think that's been happening to me lately- turning green from lack of fresh air.

A poem of a kind
To help me free my mind A little bit of rhyme To waste my precious time Been wond'ring about my life About the gladness and the strife About the laughing and the tears And why there is so little in my years? Which is better: to feel or not? Would you like to feel nothing- to be alone and rot? Or do you want to know you're living Even if you're not getting what you're giving? How do you know you're alive? How do you define your existance? If I feel pain, at least I feel If I feel nothing, at least I do not hurt? So have I lived or am I shut Away inside a box? To be buried in the park With a plaque for all to see To Be Opened in Fifty Years it says. It's set low in the ground So the lawn can be mowed Although they see me every day No one really looks at me But when they open my time capsule And finally let me feel The air will dry up my bones and skin And I will be an old woman So pull the string out while you may In later years you'll see, you'll pay Don't be buried, don't hide away Don't collect empty yesterdays
