Some bands that aren't really all that well known (but are AWESOME) that i'm into right now are Rooney, Kings of Leon, Ozma, and The Tyde.

My favorite band is Phish. I also like Third Eye Blind, Marvelous 3, Good Charlotte, Jimmy Eat World, MXPX, Letters to Cleo, Weezer, and a lot more I can't think of.
I think a lot of people get way too carried away with the music they listen to though. At least people my age do. They think that the music you listen to defines who you are. You shouldn't shut your mind to different types of music just because it doesn't project the 'image' that you want people to see you as.

I definitely agree with you...I enjoy lot's of different types of music. Mostly rock and alternative. ex: Coldplay, Radiohead, Goo Goo Dolls, Jets to brazil...I hate rap and country but even in those categories there are exceptions...
