Also - if you think that the democracts don't vote to support their contributers - you have your head stuck in the sand. There is noting different from Bush supporting the oil industry, than another president bowing down to the teachers unions. All unions are are big business in the disguise of helping employees.

Would Steve Forbes WANT to be president? Isn't he too busy being rich and successful? It strikes me that Bush jr got into the game only because we was pretty crap at actually making money. |

Who cares about politics, corruption, money and oil? The important thing is that the Official Monster Raving Loony Party is led by a cat. Can the unofficial party say that? Huh? Can it?

What do you have to do to make your own political party?
Can't focus on politics, listening to parodys. Are the Borg a dictatorship or a pure democracy or a pure communist community?

IR is correct. The Borg is a hive community, that is connected as one organism. I would not say that they are a communist society, and they are far from democratic.

The Borg community?
What happened to the angry communist mooters making there stand? Surely we can't be that sane as to have no red mooters?

I always wondered why more christians weren't communists. All that stuff about a camel through the eye of the needle, and throwing the moneychangers out of the temple etc.

Well firstly Communism outlaws religion because it is opposition to the state. But yes, the first suggestion AFAIK came in Thomas Moore's 'Utopia'. I think heaven is supposed to be quite a communist place, but down here sensible religious people settle for equal rights and a governmental form which doesn't ban their practices.

Ok, so the Borg are an organism.
I could be a communist if communism WORKED! Communism COULD work, IF HUMANS WERN'T SO ****ING GREEDY BASTARDS! I'm just angry at the human race for not letting communism work. The point of communism is to think of everyone instead of just yourself, and most people haven't evolved to that stage where you can ignore your instincts. AND they drag the rest of us down. Sorry. Bit of a rant/vent there. It should go on the venting thread.

Well said. we are not evolutionarily suited to socialist life styles unfortunately. So we have to settle for the next best thing which is survival of the fitist capitalism with a little altruism thrown in. That pretty much defines our species since the beginning anyway.

And there's the red backlash! As I said, yup, just wait for heaven for your utopian society...

That's very true, BoP. Humans are social animals, they generally live in groups, so to speak. Not many actually live as an individual by themselves. That froup may be large or small, depending on what is necessary for the individual to succeed.
Looking at it from an individual's viewpoint, he/she has an increased rate of survival by adding him/herself to the group. An individual, in this day and age, can not know all things and do all things. He/she may be a doctor, but not know how to grow his/her own food. Another individual may know how to grow food, but not know medicine. Looking at it from a group's point of view, as the skills of the members of the group become more diverse, the individuals add their skills to the group to promote the success of the group and thus the individuals are able to survive and succeed, ensuring the genes of these individuals are passed on to a new generation. |

Communism also kind of goes against Islam too. The role of man and wife are prescribed in terms of a 'capitalist' society.
I don't think you have to do much to form a political party, Katt. Maybe just have plenty of deposits to lose...
