Is he? I know Bert and Ernie are life partners.

But, really, there's a kiddy Sesame Street theme park called Sesame Place. I went there once, and I got really mad at Grover because he wouldn't talk to me or pick me up, so I punched him.

I liked Sesame Street though. Except that Little Bird would aggrivate me. He was there in the theme song every morning; why didn't he ever show up in an episode!? It puzzeld me. (I guess Jim Henson Inc. lost the puppet or something)

Haha that's funny. How old were you?
I've never heard of Sesame Place, though

I found an old record that had Sesame Streee songs on it. It was really weird to listen to it again. Do you know the rubber duckie song? It's cute.

That reminds me... I once went to a Sesame Street Live show, and they were all on stage singin and dancin and stuff... And then, they came off the stage, and were shaking hands and interacting with the audiance. Well, I was sitting on the end of my row, and out of nowhere, here comes the Cookie Monster. He comes up to me and STEALS MY POPCORN! And he was jsut throwin it into his mouth and it was going all over the floor... By the time he gave it back, it was almost empty and it had blue fuzz all in it!

I just seem to have bad luck with children's characters...

Actually not a bad idea... I wonder if there is a "Traumatized by Children's Characters Anonymous" club...

Well, it wasn't exactly the best way I got to meet him...

And there are even more bad encounters I've had with child characters.... Don't even get me started on my trip to Disney World!

...Does anyone remember when teenagers were singing/watching/obsessed with blues clues? HAHAHAHAHA

Ohh, I think the thing now is those caring bears.

Although I do not readily participate in the watching of children shows I babysit the neighbor kids ceaselessly.

I concur with IronParrot,
Most television today is repetitive, the same themes, ideas, etc.
I CAN'T STAND MOST REALITY SERIES. Survivor, Big Brother, Jackass, Punk'd, I hated Tom Green, (MTV the channel is permanently locked out on our TV thanks to moi) Fear factor, Crank Yankers, etc. etc. etc.

I despise most prime time tv series, Raymond, King of Queens. Any of them.

The only T.V. show I watch, on a regular basis, is the Jo Schmo Show. It's a not-so-reality-reality show. Everyone is an actor except for this guy named Matt Gould. All the story lines are made up (except for the unpredictable MATT parts), and everyone is in on it 'cept him.

My opinion.

I better lock the MTV channels now, before my son even thinks about them! My daughter doesn't care for them, and my husband and I do not understand MTV anymore. VH1 is what we watch for rock/pop music entertainment. Yep......I wished I'd locked Cartoon Networkabout five years ago, Nickelodeon....well, I do like Hey Arnold, and I think Spongebob is hilarious.....I don't want to get too uptight I guess! I will speak to my husband about the MTV locking tonight!

Unfortunately, I cannot block out either Kiddy Network, as I said, I babysit the neighbor kids, and TOONS are the only way to keep them entertained (I was told Candy Land was "Gay" by the 5 year old!)

Probably a good idea Lizra, your sanity may be at stake, as well as other things!

Wow,
That's a good thing!
The content of the programs are decreasing every year, but as I'm sure you have noticed, it's doing the same on the basic cable channels.

I guess those who are concerned about it (me) could sell the tv and house, by a log cabin in the Canadian wastelands (anywhere in canada j/k) and live out the rest of life as a hermit, wearing only white clothing and having to hunt for food, dig for water, and suffer through illness.

Ohhh! A field trip!

Oh come on Sween! I'm incredibly fun! Wheeee!!!! (Ask Anduril! heh )
MTV is flat out stupid! I liked the old days when young people figured out what was cool themselves, then television tried to keep up. MTV tries to serve all this lame posturing up on some kind of "Cool platter"....bleah! (Need vomit smilie!)

When MTV first came out, I enjoyed it. All they played was music videos, 24 hours...or whatever amount of time they were on. You just watched it as an extension of listening to your music, to see what artists were doing. Another way (though a bit overly self conscious, but that's another thread) for musicians to express themselves, hopefully for your enjoyment. I don't know what it's supposed to be now, I'm just glad I grew up when the fans were still calling the shots, more or less.

I could have done that Hector, but my husband enjoys tv! Of course he doesn't like regular network shows...does anybody watch that stuff?....but he likes to (make that "tries to" ) relax while watching old movies, shows about Harleys, the Grand Old Opry (which suddenly isn't showing on the now MTV owned CMT anymore! ), stuff about wars, just guy stuff I guess. Well we both enjoy Seinfeld reruns, and must watch the news sometimes, so, I couldn't get away with no TV. But if it was just me, I'd put that $50 a month in my savings account and watch it grow!

No kidding! Ours is about $75 dollars a month ( ) because my husband is a boxing fan and we MUST have HBO. And of course you can't just get HBO, in order to get it you must get the stupid "digital package."

My kids are still very young, and I control what they watch. They watch a half hour while I take a shower, etc. in the morning, then a half hour while I cook dinner. It is always a public tv show (like Mr. Roger's Neighborhood) or a video (Veggie Tales or something). When they get older I'll revisit what shows they can watch (I wish they showed the old Spider Man cartoons! My son is interested in Spider Man because a boy at his preschool has a Spider Man backpack.)
I agree Lizra about the Nicktoons and Cartoon Network -- lame animation and inappropriate content on the ones I've seen! I like videos because they end. TV goes on forever! I wish they'd start a "classic cartoon network" with stuff that was on before the whole "gross out" phase started. A lot of the newer ones seem more teen or even adult oriented. And those voices! I never could understand why my mom hated to hear Shaggy talk when we watched Scooby Doo -- I guess I see why now that I am annoyed by the voices on new cartoons!
