Disgusting is the right word. That sort of practice would be illegal in Norway.

Yeah, luckily it is now illegal in the UK.....the various news broadcasters (to their credit) reported on the foul conditions that the calfs were kept..........I think it shocked the British public as to what exactly they had on thier dinner plate.

it's not owtlawed here.
anyways, i just thought that any meat from a baby cow was called veal.
alot of things are outlawed in other countries and are legal in the US.
high tension powerlines for one. these lil babies have been proven to cause cancer in other countries, but for some reason they can't prove it here.

sorry for the errors and things, but i've been painting and mt fingers are sticking to the keyboard.

Unfortuneatly not.....only meat that has been "milk fed" is classifeid at veal :/

The law in the UK is that a cow cannot be slaughtered until it is 14 months old

Baby calf isn't really raised and slaughtered the way Bombadillo posted. Actually all "milk fed veal" means is that the calf was still nursing from it's mother when it was slaughtered. I like veal - and I eat it - Veal Marsala, Veal Picata, Veal Parmigiana. It's no different than eating anything else. I have also had shark - but never whale.

Ha! For some reason that made me laugh. It's probably the most normal statement Coney's ever made. But anyway, with the case in point, such is death.

I wouldn't really know anyway. That's just what I'd heard. So it isn't tied up?

But I eat it anyway too. Veal parmigana is really tasty.

I've never heard that. They are generally kept in a small pen though so it can't run around and the meat doesn't get tough. People won't eat it because they think it's cruel to eat a baby animal - but they're raised to be eaten - that's the sole purpose for them.

I eat duck and lamb too. I have no problem eating any kind of meat as long as it tastes good.

Well for some odd reason, my friend's aunt decided to take a trip to a slaughterhouse. I think it was her who told me that, but maybe it was my imagination running away with me (or from me, or however the saying goes).

But I agree. All cows are raised to be killed and eaten, so why not eat a young one? And duck and lamb are both great, but I kind of feel sorry for the lamb.

i wish i had a problem wth eating meat... then maybe i wouldn't eat so much of it.

i think that as long as people don't do it to excess then it will be fine.. but seeing as we have already killed to excess, now .. there the problems start.

Friendly Dolphin likes Norwegians

What's going on in Norway, Artanis?
I read a quite amusing article in a Norwegian online newspaper about a 'friendly' Norwegian dolphin. Here is another article in English article about it:
Quote:
Friendly Dolphin
A 28-year-old Norwegian swimmer discovered the legendary affection of small cetaceans for humans can be more than platonic.

According to Norway’s daily Verdens Gang, the swimmer found himself the love object of an insistent dolphin in the waters off Farsund, in southern Norway.

The dolphin and the swimmer became romantically intwined for two or three meters.

Apparently the man’s swimsuit was a bit too provocative for the amorous marine mammal.

The courted swimmer managed to disengage and scramble back aboard his boat.

A diving instructor nearby witnessed the attack and told the Norwegian publication that the dolphin “tried it on with me too, but I was wearing protection…a wetsuit.”
If you speak Norwegian, here is the
Norwegian article. It is more amusing to read than the English one

What a nasty mistake!
I mean, to play with dolphins without a wetsuit.

Baby girl for Norwegian princess

Mette-Marit, the Crown Princess of Norway, gave birth to a daughter today. The baby girl, whose name is still undecided, might in the future become Norway's first queen since the 15th century (when the Danish Queen Margrethe ruled all of Scandinavia).

Gratulerer

Takk!
She will be queen of Norway in the future if we still have a monarchy at that time. One never knows.

There's been so much ado about this baby in the news today, I'm getting tired of hearing about her already ...

Nope.

Quite funny actually (now every political correct politician in the country are going around telling us how good this is for equal rights between the sexes, while an old lady they interviewed said: "I wanted it to be a boy. But a girl is alright as well").

And now news-time. Guess what's on?

I just noticed that I actually made some intelligent posts.
