I heard a cute tradition that one family does.
If any of you parents don't like your kids to eat too much candy, here's an idea. Oh, and if you haven't see "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" then this won't make sense. The kids write letters to the Great Pumpkin telling a favorite toy that they want. They go trick-or-treating, get lots of candy, then they leave their bag outside their door when they go to bed and in the morning the Great Pumpkin will have visited and left a toy in exchange for the bag of candy. cute eh?

A few years ago, I dressed up with a skull-type mask and draped myself with a black cloak. None of my skin was exposed and when I sat in a chair, I basically looked like some sort of stuffed dummy just sitting in the chair. My mom would put the candy in my lap and tell the trick-or-treaters to come up to me and get some. The whole time I would be sitting motionless until they reached to get some candy when I would reach out and grab them. Hehehe a couple of them took off and never came back. One poor kid jumped off the porch into the bushes. The ones that did come back got lots of candy though.
This year I went as a hobbit. My friend has a picture, but I'll have to wait until she gets them developed.

I went as a hobbit last year.
A friend of mine did that same thing! Scaring kids all evening! It is funny isnt it? As for this year I didnt do much, I stayed at home. For the first year ever. I am a little grown up for such a holiday. [Although I still had a great time] |

We don't get trick-or-treaters in my neighborhood. The houses are too far apart and there are no street lights, so it's really dark and kind of spooky for kids. Oh well. We decorate our house anyway.

True, I am the anti-hobbit--tall and skinny--but I needed a costume for the Halloween party. As soon Jackie gets the pictures developed, I'll scan them.
