I think Gimli and Legolas said no more than "the dwarf" and "the elf" in Rohan because no one there was likely to be familiar with Thranduil, or the Woodland Realm, or the House of Durin -- being Dwarvish or Elvish was enough.

Is it just me, or dose it seem that almost the whole fellowship had some kind of power for at least part of ther life?

~Samwise- mayer, owend the Ring at one moment
~Frodo- owned the Ring
~Legolas- a prince?
~Gandalf-WHITE! enof said
~Boromir- if he hadn't died, and Aragorn hadn't come back, he would be the 'king' (I hate using that, since his father was not the king, I geuss ruler is a better word) and son of the ruler of Gondor, leaving him alot of power
~Aragorn- King of Gondor
~Gimli- ??? anything for him?
~Merry and Pippon- anything???

Important people do important things.
And then, of course, there's Merry and Pippin.

What I would like to know is: how do you pronounce Legolas? I used to say Leg-gol-las, but in the movie they say Lego-lass. Is there a correct way?

Christopher Lee who played Saruman, said that the pronouciations in the movie are indeed the correct ones. PJ wanted this specifically.

I believe Gimli returned after the war of the ring and became lord of Aglarond. Merry became the master of Buckland, and Pippen Thain.

During the fellowship its true none of these three have a tittle such as prince and such but they are all born of wealthy familys and rich lineage(and so very well respected in their homelands).

RÃ*an-
if this wasnt already mentioned.... "Prince" Imrahil?

Hey, Utúllelyo, you're absolutely right - thanks! And Faramir is called "Prince of Ithilien".

However, they aren't elves, so I think there still aren't elves with the title of "prince", although Tolkien uses "prince" in a general sense of nobleman.

(we know every other member of the fellowships hair color!)
We do not know Frodo's, Sam's, or Gimli's. Brown was most common for a hobbit, but that does not mean that Sam and/or Frodo had brown hair. Nothing whatever is said about Gimli's appearance, other then his mail shirt, for he is introduced as "his [Glóin's) son, Gimli". At least we know that Legolas was clad in green and brown. Sam's skin was brown, and he was shorter than the other hobbits, and my guess is he was mostly Harfootish, the most representative variety of hobbit, but it is still not certain that he had brown hair. Frodo was "taller than some" hobbits, and "fairer than most", and he had a cleft in his chin, but his hair-color is not mentioned.

Gandalf (as the Grey and White) had silver-white hair, Aragorn had dark hair flecked with grey, Boromir had dark hair, and Pippin and Merry had brown.

The only connection I can see with Legolas being supposedly 2931 is that Aragorn was born in 2931, Third Age.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: Leggie's age is pure conjecture. NO ONE knows how old he is --- we can only guess.

Yep, and it's G-a-ndalf (British way) not G-ei-ndalf (American way).

Maybe you should put that in really big letters. Hey, BoP, we have the same signature (nearly)!

So the correct way to say Legolass is Lego-lass? Well at least the movie was good for something. I also learnt how to say Dunedain properly from the movie: I used to say dun-e-dayn (rhymes with rain), now I know it is dun-e-dine. I only mention the movies here in this forum because I know they tried to get the pronounciations correct.

So we do. Great minds think alike, and all that.

I used to say Leg-GOL-lass as well. I still say Dun-e-dayn. I've got my pronounciation of Sauron correct now though... Sour-on, as opposed to Sore-on...
