"I made a promise, Mr. Frodo. A promise - 'Don't you leave him, Samwise Gamgee. And I don't mean to!" *sob* Can't wait til next December SHELOB! |

Samwise....I agree about the ending. This was surely the best of the movie. The whole sequence of Sam wading out into the water and then being hauled up was better than in the book which for such a crucial scene is so short. PJ was right o choreograph it so well. I love Sam's tears mixed up with the riverwater and the promise speech.
Incidentaly I reckon PJ is going with the idea that Gollum's 'promise' (yak i hate that creep) was duplicitous in that it was a promise to the master of the precious and not Frodo. If PJ brings this theme out it will contrast nicely with the promise given by Sam. Very biblical scene, very remeniscent of Peter wading over the water to christ. BTW the symbolism of hands and fingers also plays out in this scene. An open hand is a sign of repentance (see Galadriel on the bank after she passes the test, or Bilbo dropping the ring from an open hand in Bag End) Frodo seizes Sam with his open hand and this contact features later on as well. See how Boromir taps his lip with his index finger constantly at the Council...ego ego. Now I'm an enting I should be less hasty. |

ok so everyone has already said all of my favourites.
no 1has mentiones legolas'-"a lament for gandalf. i have not the heart to tell you for me the grief is still too near in my heart" or something like that. that was nice.legolas really should have more lines! nething said by pippin is great mainly because of his scottish accent and his great comical timing. btw-how many posts does it take to become an enting? oh yeah. and frodo`s "i think we should get off the road. Get off the road!!!!!!" was fab.don`t know what was happening to elijahs accent there though.

I just noticed that there are more than one scene where Frodo reluctantly accepts the role of ringbearer and all its hardships. It reminds me of the Angelus Mary accepts her role of childbearer.

Merry:
"This, my friend, is a pint." Pippin: "It comes in PINTS! I'm getting one." Frodo at the council: "I will take the ring to Mordor, though I do not know the way." (or something like that) Then of course that part about elevenses, lucheon....etc I love Pippin's accent....I think he's way cooler than Frodo Asilynn of Lindon |

fav quotes....
I liked in the very beginning when Galadriel starts the introduction with :
I amar prestar aen-The world is changed Han mathon ne nen-I feel it in the water Han mathon ne chae-I feel it in the earth A han nostron nen wilith-I smell it in the air. ^Gave me the shivers!!! But I did find myself cracking up at the wrong places, like when Aragorn cuts off that Orc's head *forgot name* (that kicked), and when Arwen is trying to save Frodo and suddenly out of nowhere appears ELROND!!! lol that was too much "Are you scared?" *Frodo nods* "Not nearly scared enough!"-Aragorn at the Prancing Pony And, o course, all those, "Oh, Sam!"s. ___________________ ~**Celebwen**~ "...Great! "That dwarf breathes so loud I could have shot him in the dark." - Haldir the arrogant Elvish twat :>
Gandalf: (about Frodo) He suspects something, you know. Bilbo: Of course he does, he's a Baggins! Not some blockheaded Bracegirdle from Harbottle!!!

As long as we're talking about Sam's dramatic part at the end of the movie I may as well share my thoughts about it. I loved it. It was the only part in the movie that made me cry.

my favorite quotes have already been named many times- the pints exchange and elvenses, luncheon.
the two that gave me the most chills were the beginning lines spoken by Galadriel, and Gandalf's "Fly you fools" in Moria. My absolute favorite is sam's exchange with Frodo at the end of the movie- "Sam I'm going to Mordor alone" "Of course you are sir, and I'm going with you!" sorry if i messed those up, i'm going by memory here!

My favorite quote has got to be when Sam rushes over to Frodo in the tower, saying,''I couldn't find you Master!''Then Frodo just leans back in Sam's arms, and says,''Well you have now, Sam, dear Sam.''*sniff*So it isn't such an important line in the book, but I went back and re-read those lines I don't know how many times!I think that is one of the best lines in the book.
Also, I just love almost all of Merry or Pippin's lines.(I never heard that,''You got ash in my tomatoes!''line. I'll listen for it the third time around....)

Yessssss, Quotesssssssss, Precioussssssss...
I just remembered one of my favourites from the book -
On Caradhras: Someone had been talking about "if only someone could help us above the snow" or something like that, and Gandalf replies, "Yes, and if Elves had wings, Legolas could go and bring the sun to melt a path for us. Later: Legolas leaps up to the top of the snow. "Farewell! I go to find the sun!" and runs off. Well, it was funny when I read it. __________ A small, cute frog sprouts wings and takes off. "Wheeeeeeeee!" |
