But when the day is done, and the Earth is yours, you return to Entmoot.

Hmm, better tell my brother that he is no longer the Co-Sovereign of Planet Earth...

I'll inform him. Though I don't think he'll be too keen on "expendable".

Since I already know that my old friend is a good guy, I would hand him my keys and tell him to get the old woman to the hospital, immediately, and keep the car. Then I would walk up to the other woman, tell her she's the one I've been waiting for all these years, and we would ride, er... take the bus, off into the sunset and live happily ever after.

Great minds think alike.

The old lady........nope, I don't want any dead folks in my car thanks........but I would probby phone an ambulance or something for her.

The old friend..........nope, he should have used his brain and 'phoned me the night before to organise a lift (he didn't, so I guess he enjoys taking the bus).

The perfect partner............Yeah, I'd pick her up.........couldn't gaurantee that she'd make it to work on time tho'
Leaves me wondering what kind of employment your dream girl does that requires her to work at night, at a bus stop (presumably on a corner)

Perhaps she's a professional bus rider?

Agreed on the Sisters of Mercy thing ('cos you don't look ready for that kind of erm, yeah ok you know what I mean, yet )

Ever been to that place BTW - where the Sisters all get together? I think most people walk outa there feeling distinctly dissatisfied

Maybe you should be the 1 she practices on...........

Waaaait a second...I thought Sisters of Mercy were nuns of a specific order? But it doesn't sound like you're talking about nuns...

Well, it might be an order of Nuns (I'm pretty sketchy on the whole Nun business.......although a couple used to come into my shop, they were pretty cool), but SoM was also the nickname used by British sailors in olden time to describe ladies of negotiable (or should it be negotiatable?) virtue.

Aha. I was wondering just what order that was... Servants of Rahab, maybe?

I think the first is correct.

You'll find that both definitions are correct. British sailors often used slang taken from religious sources. When you have a Passionatately Christian officer your unlikely to say "I can't wait to dock, I'm going straight to see the whores at the brothel" are you? But if you say "I'm going to visit the House of The Sisters of Mercy".........you would be spared the whip.
