I don't know. If you have bought a house even if you're still paying it off, the deeds would be already in your name, any insurance for the house would be in your name and paid by you in full and also, you're the one who's paying the taxes on the house, sounds enough like home-owner to me.

With the Hobbit movie coming out, I'm getting the itch to read some JRRT again. I've been thinking about how to do it. I've thought of a plan I might follow, reading in this order:
* LOTR * Silmarillion * Unfinished Tales * The Hobbit I'd try to make my way through slowly (I'm reading other things besides anyway) - and see if I can time it to finish The Hobbit just a little before the movie comes out.

We're getting all geared up to move.
Also my mother is driving my dad and I bonkers. My poor dad just started his new job, although he's working from home for the next two weeks, and he's been responsible for just about everything having to do with the move up to now. My mother and I are on spring break, but I am still working every day at my desk job. So when something needs to be done she says, "Okay someone needs to take care of, [insert problem]," then wanders off to go study. i.e. saying that my dad and I have to take care of it despite the fact that she has the most freedom of schedule. Case in point, my dad and I want to give away our old furniture that we don't want any more to Goodwill, and she is insisting we have a garage sale. Too bad she's too busy to help set it up! So the two people who voted against a garage sale have to do all of the work. It'll all be over soon, though! We're getting the keys tomorrow evening at which point we'll start moving boxes, and on Friday afternoon we're having a mover take all of the big stuff. At least it's almost over. |

Credit to C.S. Lewis, of course, just in case anybody misses the reference to "Prince Caspian"

I got an iPad tonight! I'm typing this on it right now. I can actually type almost as fast on here a I can on my laptop, which I wasn't expecting.
I got it to use for school because I really wanted something where I could type notes and also draw the math equations into the same document. I noticed some one else doing it with an iPad at the start of the semester and I wanted to try it. |

LOTTO!
Nobody won the big one? Interesting article from Wired on how the system can be gamed, and may be being used to launder money: http://www.wired.com/magazine/2011/01/ff_lottery/all/1 Note especially the very lucky Joan Ginther of Texas, who has won over $1 million four times; her latest was a $10 million dollar win; total over $20 million. http://abcnews.go.com/Business/texas...4#.T3enENnYyjw According to the comments, by an incredible coincidence she's a Stanford grad and former math professor, and, while she lives in Las Vegas, three of her four winning tickets have been bought in the tiny town she came from, and where she keeps going back to just to buy them.

I've sort of got a happy/unsure thing right now.
Over the last week I have lost about 3 to 5 pounds (I know I started somewhere between 183 and 185) and I know that's a lot of weight to drop considering that I haven't lost water weight (I stay well hydrated). I decided to restrict myself to right around 1700 calories per day, and it feels great. I skip breakfast because I don't like to eat in the morning, or if I wake up hungry I have an egg or two with toast, but then I have about a 900 calorie lunch and then a smaller 600-700 calorie dinner. I love it because I rarely feel hungry before noon, so I can have two really big meals during the day and I feel very satisfied and not like I'm on a diet at all. Although to be fare I don't count the calories of outside meal veggies I eat, but that's partially because I typically wind up at about 1500-1600 calories, so I figure the veggies can't be more than another 200 calories maximum, and I'd rather allow myself to eat extra veggies whenever I want. But I'm somewhat concerned because 1700 calories is only supposed to lose me about 2 pounds a week max, and I know it's not really healthy to lose faster than that for an extended period. I have increased my exercise by doing more walking around campus, and much more vigorously, so I wonder if that could be part of it. But I have no adverse reactions so far. I'm not hungry except at lunch and dinner time, I don't have deprivation/hunger headaches, if anything I am actually feeling like I have more stamina than last week despite the harder exercise and less food, so.... I'm hoping I'm on to something. We'll see what happens in week two and three. If I continue to lose more than 2lb a week I think I will up my calories to 1800 or 1900. |
