For a second there, I thought it was Fox News. That was of course until I saw the CNN logo. Wow. Just. Wow.

Amazing. September 1st was my 10-year anniversary of joining Entmoot. I can't believe it's been 10 years already... that's just a little less than half of my entire life. O_o I'm 22 and I've been here 10 years.
I love you guys. |

I'm in a state of happy tiredness: just finished baking my third cake of the day. I made a peach cheesecake-like cake, an applecrumble cheesecake-like pie and a fruit custardpie.

Wow - you joined just before the 9/11 atrocities. That must have been really weird.

i'm back from the bear safari, and it was a success... we went to the hides at 5pm, and within an hour there was a bear there. during the night, we saw at least 8 bears; it was hard to keep track of how many there actually were, since they came and went.
the first bear to arrive was also the last to leave. it was sort of funny, it came, found the food, sat down next to it and ate for 6 hours. must've been hungry. another one was clearly scared of the crows and ravens that also were enjoying the buffet. it came in, took some fish and ran into the forest for cover. then it came back and did the same thing, many times. we were also lucky to see one wolf run past; even luckier that it was a relatively rare white wolf. it was extremely beautiful, and we did a silent high-5 in the hide. when it got too dark to see anything, we went to sleep for a couple of hours on the floor of the hide. i fell asleep to the sound of bears walking in the swamp. that sure was something i hadn't experienced before, and will not forget soon. over all, a very wonderful night... i had never seen that many ravens in one place in my life (and i love ravens)! and oh, the bears... beautiful creatures. it was interesting to see the clearly different personalities. they were also surprisingly peaceful, even though there were up to 6 bears by the food at a time. an experience i won't forget... this bear became aware of another one, coming in from the forest; that's why it looks so curious/attentive. after eating for an hour, this bear needed a sip of water and just walked out onto the swamp... handy to have drinking water that easily available. the white wolf, that i was lucky to catch...

Wow, that is SO cool! I'd almost say 'freakin' cool', but I feel a bit too old for that expression.

Had a very busy weekend and loved it. Went to a roman re-enactment on saturday, watched celts making stuff and saw a roman army marching (those poor bastards must have been absolutely melting under all that armour in this exceptionally scorching hot october weekend) and tasted mead! Does taste quite good so I bought a bottle and I'm sipping some as I type.
Then today I went to a plant fair with the family, got some very nice autumn flowers that the bees and butterflies will love. (I do hope, however, that the snails will look the other way...)

It's in their own slimy interest, though. Because if anything snail-like dares to munch on my flowers, I will scoure the garden at night and each and every snail that has to misfortune to cross my path, will be fed to the water turtles. And they will not look the other way...

You know, I think your plastic gecko is more impressive than hungry water turtles...

Sadly, I have not been able to distill fear for the plastic gecko in the garden snails, as I've done with mooters here. However, the hungry water turtles ought not to be trifled with, they can be vicious. Not a snail has come back to torment my pretty flowers ever again after they've gone into the pond.
