D'accord. Je parle un petit peu de francaise maintenant. Il ya longtemps de parler avec mes amis et ma classe parce que cette langue n'est pas important ici.
Pardonnez moi. Je m'embarrass. Mais j'aime le chanson de cette langue.

I never liked all those mandatory language lessons in school, but darn, am I glad I had them now! Being able to know another language than your mother tongue is very empowering.

I just wish they offered us other options... everyone was forced into Spanish when we were younger and then by the time French was even offered we'd already passed the stage where language learning is easiest and my mom didn't want me to start on a completely different course....
I mean, Spanish is a really good language to know, especially in America now, but still... I would have liked more options lol

Well, French is our second national language, so French it was either way. Only later did we get to English and German. Spanish was, ironically enough, optional for us.

When I started, some of us were given permission to start languages before high school...most had no option until then. We could take French, 'the language of literature, love and government' or Spanish, which was strictly Castillian. You took French if you were college bound but not planning to switch to German, which was necessary if you were going into medicine. Latin had been recently discontinued as an option.
I used to be quite fluent, partially due to a cathartic infusion of vocabulary living in French Canada. Now I'd recommend Spanish for people only getting 2 years. Much more applicable in most neighborhoods. But I love the languge. I love how it sounds, and I still read a few things in it. I plan to take a couple of Spanish courses in the next year or so, though. Being almost but not quite able to follow people gossiping near me makes me INSANE.

French, I can read it but I don't like the language. I would do another course in it if I would do more with other languages though. French is a good basis (as is Latin) and lots of older research on cultures etc. is written in French.
I would like to learn Russian. And I need to immerse myself in German for a bit. Well, enough about lingo's. I'm having winegums. Anyone want some? Oh, and there is a stranger standing in my livingroom...

No fair! Mari's starting her Novel early!
There a stranger standing in my living room. I take another winegum, anyway, and check my IM, for the 90th time. There's a voice in my head saying "You need to go downstairs and meet them" but I hesitate. Getting back to school invigorates me, but I know if I go downstairs I'll be making awkward conversation, and I resent the time it takes from my mooting. Mooting is all. My friends are actually online now, if I get up, who knows. I glance at the clock and my stack of assignments, and then back at the green-bordered screen. Safe. I would be safe in the Teacup, Sane will protect me. I smile expectantly, and type again, the livingroom fading to the back of my mind as the Teacup solidifies.

Hahaha, *hugs Sis tight* you're cute ^_^
Fortunately the stranger has fixed the blinds and has left again. But yeah, that stack of assignments and fixing the things my group has left undone over the vacation... >_< Maybe I should leave them to fend for themselves. See how they'd do. Wanna bet they'd actually do surprisingly well? Oh, the rabbit is loose in the living room now.

Cya!
I have a great urge to say why I'm off forever, but I think that would be rude and so enjoy this forum. I've come to the endpoint in that respect! To those who have been enjoyable to 'forumize' with, have fun! To the rest of you: Life's too short And a futuristic Merry Xmas (& Happy New Year I guess) 2008 and so on! |
