*drags herself in for a scalding hot cup of tea*

Have been having this bloody cold for 10 days now. No fun.

Am expecting packages that don't come. Don't tell me the post doesn't deliver packages because of the snow!

Other than that, I'm fine. Tea anyone?

Yes, thanks. I'll have a nice cup of Lady Grey, to go with all the cheap chocolates I've bought.

Apparently, today is "Family Day" in Canada. I tried to go to the LCBO, and drop off some things at the dry cleaners, but no go; a lot of stuff is closed. Fortunately, the drug store with half-priced chocolate was not.

Has anyone ever tried the Bloody Mary in the mirror game thing? I'm trying really hard to get over my fear of mirrors... I think it might help to hear some stories.

Fear of mirrors? How does that work exactly? Is it being afraid of your own reflection, or afraid of seeing something else behind you? Just curious, I never heard of someone being afraid of mirrors.

Funny thing: I just watched the old BBC Voyage of the Dawn Treader. In it, Lucy looks into a mirror but quickly turns away. In the book it's supposed to be because the mirror does weird things. In the movie it seemed more that she couldn't stand to look at herself .

Eärniel, it's mostly of seeing something else in the mirror either with or replacing me, and particularly Bloody Mary. I can't sleep well in a room with a mirror in it. It's a ridiculous fear though so I'm trying to get over it.

Hector, that's pretty funny.

There is a Greek medical term for everything, including "eisoptrophobia" - fear of mirrors.
Most specific phobias are easily mastered with some stepwise cognitive/behavioural strategies. So if you're trying to get over a fear of mirrors for instance, you'll very likely to succeed

Hey, all! Don't forget: you came from dirt, and you're heading back to it!

Katya, don't you have to summon Bloody Mary? Just don't say her name in front of a mirror, and you should be fine.

I can sympathize, though. I have a bit of a phobia of bears. If I'm staying somewhere out in the country, and my room has large windows or summat, I sometimes have trouble sleeping, because I'm too busy worrying about bears coming and getting in. The worst was when I stayed in a room with, not just big windows, but a whole glass wall for a week.

I sympathize. Mirrors are pretty darn scary. Not as scary as clowns, but close. I don't have a mirror in my room, and I'm really happy about that. If I did, I would cover it up when I wasn't using it. Or flip it over.

I have a mirror, it's facing the door. I've never been bothered by it. The only thing I'm afraid of is my teeth falling out, or biting off part of a tooth again. *shudders just thinking about the sound that made*

I have a friend who just recently lost a tooth, biting into a bagel. Those things can be tricky.

But, anyway. how do you bite off part of a tooth? I'm thinking angles here, and it just doesn't seem possible!

My teeth aren't straight. Never had braces. Plus, you know those two vampire teeth? Mine are really long and sharp too (my dentist used to file them so I wouldn't hurt myself with them), they sometimes hit the teeth in my underjaw the wrong way. One such time the top just chipped off.

Vampire teeth, heheh, I like that description. My second canine never grew to full size, so I never had to worry about it. I sometimes call my cat a sabretooth because his canines are actually too long to fit in his mouth.

But the sound of breaking teeth is totally scary. I can still hear that definite crunch when I fell in kindergarden and broke my front tooth. *shudders*

Floss carefully then!
Yes, that's pretty scary actually. I sometimes have nightmares about it!
Apparently the loosening of teeth is quite common in the elderly (due to not flossing regularly throughout their life) so start working on it right now
